TSX homemade intake K&N

Heres a quick write up of the intake I built for my 07 TSX. It cost me under $50! Got myself a 3" aluminum 90 degree intake tube (cut to fit), a 3" inlet K&N filter, one 3" silcone coupler and thats it! I made a little bracket to hold the filter from flopping around. I obviously removed all the stock plastic intake crap. Sounds like a race engine under load and especially when the VTEC kicks in. Normal sound when driving around town. Cut a couple of slits open on the lower bumper black grille section and that allows fresh outside air in. No worries about water, because its higher in the engine compartment. A defenite improvement!!!

None. Nothing for it to rattle on.

That's awesome! $50 bucks and you're set? I gotta do this, did you get the pipe from a performance shop or a place like advanced auto/auto zone?

I actually got the tubing from a company on ebay. It's a 3" 90 degree and I just trimmed it to fit. Also bought the K&N on ebay. I just measured the space that it would fit in, go on K&N's site and find one in their huge catalog, then go on ebay and search that part #. I bought the silicone adapter from Autozone. Its a Spectre part. I made a little bracket that you can see on the last pic on the bottom, that holds the filter in place and doesnt allow it to flop around. Im pretty pleased with the way it turned out. More pleased in the way it sounds!! Thanks for the props!

My DIY intake

Materials used were

3.5" copper 45 degree elbow
3.5" Outside Diameter ABS drain pipe
Can of gravel Guard rubberized insulating spray
K&N 3.5" Cone filter

The Drain pipe had to be bored out to fit over the copper fitting on each end. The outside diameter of the ABS fits perfectly inside the stock air stack and in the K&N filter. The elbow was only used to give it a proper angle.

This thing sounds like a monster. Ill put up a video soon but for now here are some pics.

Talk about money saving ingenuity son! Mind breaking this down in a more detailed DIY for a dummy like me? I am sure it would be greatly appreciated. Props on being innovative.
