Stoptech rotors/pads question

I got the slotted stoptech rotors and pads installed last week with a new set of tires (Goodyear Eagle F1 All Season FTW!)

I've noticed the brakes are not as "all in" as the OEMs (which had warped rotors at 30k, the dealer tried to fix, but didnt so i just went aftermarket)

By ALL IN I mean on the OEM pads and rotors, i'd tap the brakes and get a whiplash. These brakes are more gradual, at all usage points (cold and after 2 hrs of hwy driving). I havent tested them to ABS limits yet, but i'm wondering if this difference in feel is normal considering the upgrade to stoptech.

Also - a crazy odor (the tires maybe) is coming from these things. almost smells sweet and rubbery.

Overall, i feel WAY safer in my car - the tires and brakes are great, i just want to make sure they were installed properly ,etc.

is there a wear in procedure? Mechanic said no, but i saw a flier in the box that they didnt give to me after install.

I have read that twice now and I need to do it. Any suggestions on where i can get going that fast and not get a ticket or get into an accident from braking so hard?

There is a huge weekend-empty parking lot near me, but i dont know if that's kosher.

Thanks
