A-Spec suspension vs. Hondata reflash

In an ideal world, one would get both mods.

However, if you had to choose one which one would it be and why?

Also, does the A-spec mod come with a warranty?

it's a matter of preference. Everyone will have a different answer, who cares what people say. Do what u think is more important. Its A=spec for lower stance, better cornering, little stiffer ride, etc. or Hondata for better throttle response, more HP/TQ throught entire RPM band, smother VTEC transition.

In my opinion this is a dumb thread but that's just my

do whatever u want, screw what other people think, Otherwise u'll regret it later

Hondata. A-Spec would not give you as much pleasure or looks as you would want. Now, Hondata...that's a whole different story when it comes to a performance upgrade.

Interesting responses.

I was expecting more votes for A-spec, considering the reflash does not seem to significantly improve 0-60 or 1/4 mile times. Yes, "significant" can mean different things but I have yet to see anything more than a shift in the dyno.

They are both similar in price, no?

I guess I live in an ideal world! But if I had to choose, Hondata hands down.

Let me vote for a-spec + RSB. Since I only have these 2 and I dun want to ruin the warranty on my engine, so I will stay away from Hondata. And I am very happy with a-spec + RSB.

Like all Acura OEM parts bought from the dealership, they carry a 1 year parts warranty. If you have the labor done there, it also carries 1 year -- at least that's what it say on my reciept.

4 yrs/48,000 miles if you get it installed at the same time you purchase your vehicle. After that there is a 1 yr warranty.

Overall bang for buck: Hondata.

But I guess it just depends on what you will appreciate more, better cornering or better throttle. A-spec doesn't give anything really related to looks since the drop is barely noticeable.
And about the A-Spec warranty - dealer must install for warranty I believe (and they ain't cheap...)

That 1 year warranty info is WRONG even though the dealers might like it that way. If you buy and install and OEM add-on at a dealer it will carry the balance of your full car warranty.

This is from the e-Store. This is also printed in your Car Manual.

Could you specify "not noticeable"? One inch would seem significant given that the TL (1/2 inch lower) is definitely discernable.

Nevertheless, given you have both mods, I'll take your comparison at face value.

I have both, the A-spec and Hondata reflash. The A-spec made the car handle better... I can feel it in the curves. Very little visual drop. The hondata reflash on the other hand.. I have had it about a month now... and I am still amazed at how differently the car drives. Although the tsx needs some kind of suspension mod, the hondata reflash is a more valued and appreciated mod. You still need to have at least a CAI and ideally a header before you do the hondata. There is less gain without the CAI and Header. Do the CAI first,,, then the hondata reflash

To a person unfamiliar with the car, or even to someone who knows the TSX but is not focused on suspension mods, probably would never guess it is different. In fact my car still looks like it has a pretty big wheel well gap (compared to other sport sedans out there) with the stock wheel/tire combo. Until of course you put it next to a regular non-aspec TSX. Then again I might never notice the TL drop that you mention, so definitely take this at "face value"!!

I would agree with deelover in describing handling of a-spec, little visual drop (to my eyes anyway...) and impact of hondata (though I only have an icebox - no headers or true CAI- and it is still a great mod imho in this situation)

Caution: I don't want to go too overboard in praising the hondata reflash though - expectations should be real in that it is really just tweaking how the TSX performs and not making it a new car. But still a great bang for the $600 bucks!!

Same here man!!! I am stuck to wait for them to do '05!!!

No brainer, Hondata!!! It's not about peak gain but about improving the throttle response, torque curve, VTEC kick-in point, higher redline = overall better engine characteristics. So hands down to Hondata reflash!

For that FAQ, go to this thread and search for "warranty" within it.
https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21119

In a nutshell, the answer is NO - unless you blow the engine with a bad shift or something.
