So back to the A-spec suspension kit, I'm interested at installing it myself, but I saw the previous post stating a spring compressor

Do I need s spring compressro to remove the stock springs?

Will I need a spring compressor to install the a-spec kit?

Thanks

No and no.

Hey LannyM, I'm just curious, where did you get the new torque information? Seems like a big difference from the Helms.

Wait; do you need to remove the end link from the swaybar to install new shocks/springs? I hope not, because the hex socket in my left end link was so rusted when I installed my Progress rear sway that it got stripped to hell. I had to damn near demolish the thing with vicegrips just to tighten the nut, and there is no way that nut is ever coming off again.

I bought LannyM's A-spec kit, so I'm sure I'll be referring to this thread for install tips.

I believe you do not. You can remove what the end link is attached to from the knuckle, so you'll have full range of motion.

Sorry I missed this post; the info I had was with the instructions for the kit. They were the same as what JTso posted from Helms except for the rear lower shock mounting bolt.

See this thread for a detailed review.....

A-spec suspension

BTW, I'm running Tein Flex coilovers now, but I still think that the A-spec is the best bang for the buck. The only thing that people ever knock is that it doesn't drop the car that much. For $600 you get a complete matched package. When the Eibach ProSystem comes out, that may provide a good alternative, depending on how good the struts are. And then there's Neuspeed Koni's and your choice of springs; which is a nice tunable, adjustable setup.

JTso, thanks for the install guide! The pics really helped. You saved me a lot of time with the install. Here is my car with LannyM's old A-spec suspension:

Retail is about $800. Unfortunately, you may run into some retarded dealers that don't even know they can sell you the suspension separately from the complete A-spec package.

However, you can buy it from Acura of Escondido for $600 on ebay.

I installed mine by myself. Not difficult at all. You can barely notice any drop, but the ride is definetly firmer. I would recommend another suspension if you want a lower look.

I'm hoping to do this install in a couple weeks. Never done it before, but it looks pretty straightforward. Quick question...

When lifting the control arms in the front and the suspension in the rear with the jack, is there any specific jacking point you're suppose to use?

I understand what's being done to load the suspension, however since effectively you're supporting a good portion of the vehicle's weight on this jack point, won't that place undue stress on the control arm?

How many of you with the A-spec suspension also installed a rear camber kit?

Just installed the A-Spec last Sunday. Took me 6 hours. It was a fun experience.

The key success of this install is to get a good hex wrench from Sears (the T handle kind) and use plenty of WD-40 for the tough nuts.

I gotta thank JTso for such a good instruction!

If anyone in the tri-state area needs a pointer with the install, PM me!
