Shipping to Hondata today!! Can I use USPS?

Yep, I'm sending out the ECU today. The instructions recommend UPS, DHL or FedEx...but can I use the Postal Service? The cost is much cheaper!

Anyone know? Thanks!

Purchase thru a dealer, but you ship directly to Hondata.

Please give a review when you do a few runs. I been debating whether to spend $600 on the car if I plan to trade it in for the new model in a 2-3 years.

Will do. I plan to do some Gtech runs as well, since I did baseline stock runs.

As far as selling, I've been in that frame of mind for the last year or so, but a 335xi is too much of a car payment!

ugh, im in the same dilemma. my car allowance requires my vehicle is 5 years or newer, so my 04 will need a replacement soon. if the gain is that great from the reflash, i know i will bite the bullet. out of all the reviews/1st impressions I have read, I do not remember seeing a negative comment other than the vtec crossover not being as noticeable as before.

Not too sure how valid that is (directed to whoever posted it originally), because if anything, the VTEC crossover is more noticiable, considering it pulls harder than before.

I think the comment that it's not as noticeable refers to the fact that it comes on smoother after the reflash. I've heard the sentiment echoed as well.

Redfish, any reviews? Or are you too busy redlining the car?

Well, I was going to start a new thread, but...

I definitely notice a difference through the mid range and the car seems to pull quicker. It doesn't feel like a 30hp gain...but I'm sure it is or close. The car is more fun to drive.

I got the random cat and waiting shipment on a comptech header, which should maximize the Hondata. I will keep everyone posted!!

You are correct. Prior to the reflash the vtec transition is at 6000 rpm. If you look at the HP cureve you'll see that there is a dip in the HP curve starting at around 5600 rpm and is pretty pronounced by the time the engine reaches 6000. After the vtec transition the HP curve goes back up.

The reflash switches the vtec transition to earlier in the rev range, prior to the dip. Before the reflash you would be able to feel the drop in HP before the vtec transition and then a sudden boost right after. After the reflash the HP curve is smooth, no discernable dip, which means you don't feel the transition, you can only hear it.

How long does it takes for the total shippment?

I'm planning to ship my ECU via Canada Post (public service) and would like to know if they will ship it back to you in Express?

chuson,

Not sure from Canada, but I sent mine out via FedEx on Saturday 'Next Day'. So that means it shipped from FedEx Monday morning (no shipments on Sundays).

Hondata had it on Tuesday, I had it back Wednesday. FedEx won't leave it though, so make sure someone can sign for it.

A very quick turnaround. Not to mention the re-install. Less than 45 mins, and that's taking my time!

I can't wait to add the header and cat. I think I will be happy...for now.

Nice, good luck. The more I drive it, the more I notice the new mid range power.
