Hey man, you'd be hard pressed to buy a BAD part for this car, for sure. I just get nit-picky. It's a twitch of mine. Glad you got them and they are working good for you!

If I had the money, I'd have done the racingbrake package deal that you have, but the wifey put a stop to that (pun intended).

Hi,

Yes i was usng their (r1concepts) eBay Store to purchase the rotors..

The reason why i buy from their eBay Store rather than directly from r1concepts is i want to use the paypal coupons..!!

What's the major difference between the E-Line and Premium rotors?? (As they are not selling the premium ones thru their eBay Store right now)..

Has any one tired the E-Line rotors ??

Thanks
Mars

Agreed w/ CGE...

Mars - contact the manufacturer directly via their sales/customer service email address. I bought the premium rotors and Hawk HPS pads from them, and they gave me a better deal than the site and eBay. I also inquired about SS lines, and he quoted me a price that was good until "whenever I might decide to purchase them" since I also purchased the rotors and pads.

I assume you're asking if anyone has used their premium rotors (not their e-line)?

I have them. To be honest, I feel no difference from stock. To that end, I'm actually very disappointed in the Hawk HPS pads I bought because I was expecting a noticeable improvement in stopping power... at least they don't dust any worse than stock pads.

I had no expectations on the rotors other than functioning as well as stock --- they have been solid and noise free. They're also very nice looking to boot... the black e-coating around the hub and other sections compliments my car's dark "theme".

One small gripe I have (which has nothing to do with R1 or Hawk specifically) is that the point where the pads contact the rotor does not go all the way to the hub... there's about a quarter to half-inch section of rotor that does not meet the pad. After all the rain we got in NJ, the rotor shows a little bit of rust coloring... it's nothing that cleaner won't get rid of, but it's a little annoying...

To the OP.........Thanks for the kudo's!! I've had my screen name changed from LoveMyTSX to LoveMyTL-S. Glad you like the R1's and that they are working well for you. I had no issues with mine when they were on my old TSX. Loved the way they looked too with the slots and cross drilled look. Yours look really nice

To those who bought from R1, did you also buy their pads? How's the brake dust? Also, can these rotors be resurfaced? What's the average life of these types of rotors? Thanks!

Ceramic pads put out more dust , but don't get spongy under heavy braking like the organics.

So you have to decide whats more important to you.

They don't make their own brand of pads... but I did pick up the Hawk HPSs from them. The brake dust is no worse than OEM/stock; I would actually argue it's been slightly better.

I got the Axxis ULT pads from r1, I'd recommend against em if you are worried about brake dust. Its pretty bad.

I usually put a synthetic wax on my wheels after washing em, and that helps mitigate the dust.

Help

Hey guys new to the forum. bought an used 2005 tsx with 80K miles on it. Needed front brakes badly as it was vibrating every time i used the brakes.

Installed some cheap disc and pads (front only). did it myself and guess what it still vibrates.

I dont know if the pads did not seat in right or idk what is happening. I currently have 95K miles and thought the pads would seat in nice once i start putting miles on it but even after like 10k miles the vibration is still there.

I think its cos of the cheap disc and pads that i bought for less than $100.

I have ordered brand new premium disc rotor (front and rear) and premium pads (front and rear) from R1concepts, this time went with quality stuff. Do you guys think the vibration problem will go away with the new r1concept brakes or is it me ? did i screw up something when i installed the brakes??

Holy thread revival! First, let me say that I bought this same R1Concepts set back in the spring of 08 and have had the pads and rotors on ever since (about 85K miles also)(the parts were allot cheaper then too). Your problem could be the rear pads or rotors (they tend to wear out first by the way). I don't why you still have a vibration under braking, but once you replace all four rotors and pad sets, you should be all set. If you still have vibration under braking, I'd be looking at something besides those parts as a cause (a loose wheel is a possibility, it happened to me).

Just ordered from R1 their premium front and rear slotted/cross drilled rotors along with posi quiet ceramic pads. Got tired of the OEM brakes after having it serviced/turned last year (October) and issues started recently - vibration/spongy/pulsating...so the review here convinced me to purchase these brand.

Just got done installing the new rotors/pads a couple of hours ago....after beddown of the brakes no more vibration and pulsating sensation as experienced from previous OEMs, should have done these a long time ago. I'm impressed with the new braking performance.

The hardware

OEM rear rotor

new rear rotor and pad

new front rotor and pad

done with the front wheel installed

done with the rear wheel installed

Soooooo After about 100k miles its finally time for new rotors.

I'd say not bad for cheap rotors this time i'm ordering the proline + braided brake lines.
