Questions for new mods

After reading thru countless post. I have some question before modding my tsx.
Although there is alot of good info, but its still all over the place. so...

1. Hondata, would this void my warranty? or it only voids the ECU part of it?

2. What are some gains from hondata, ingen CAI, header, exhust combine vs just hondata alone for a 04MT tsx?

3. I have an 04tsx obviously, the 17" is 26 lb, im getting 18" mugen NR which are 21lbs. would this be some performence advantage? or rim size is a bigger issue then weight? I hear 16" is better than 17", but because they weight less.

4. If I add those header/exhust/cat setup, am I going to run in to CEL or check engine light issues? if so what header/exhust/cats outthere have no issues with this?

thanks

^ searching is a noobs best friend! but, here are some preliminary answers to your questions:

1. hondata will void the warranty, but your dealer will never know you have it
2. go to www.hondata.com and look at their dyno charts for hp/tq figures
3. i/h/e will not yield you a CEL, but the cat MIGHT. easy fix, however, with an el-cheap-o anti-fouler OR extra gaskets

hope that helps

To add on to what was said above, I think your figures here are off. As far as I know the OEM 17" is 23lbs without a tire. Based on that going to a 21lb wheel will not yield noticable performance gains in terms of acceleration.

However, the benefits of being able to run a wider tire (I assume your new wheel is 18x7.5" or 18x8"?) are noticable. I run an 18x8 wheel with 235/40/18 rubber during the warmer months and I get a lot of joy out of the grip it affords me over the 215/50/17 OEM tire.

In my case, going from a 23lb 17x7 to a 18.5lb 18x8 wheel did not make a noticable difference in terms of acceleration.

i read on .com (I think) their wheel guide section mention the 04/05 tsx has 26lb wheels and 06+ has 21lbs newer rims.

so your saying my dealer wont be able to find out during regular oilchange and maintanence correct? if I ever wanted to revert back to stock setting, would I have to send it back to hondata again? if so would it be another 600 dollar charge?

as far as the CEL, if I just get a Ingen CAI, DC header and say a catback exhust. I should be ok? or the new mods might throw my cat off and trigger my computer?

I am looking for a sell but since I am not going to force my sale, if I dont by next summer I will keep it and do some engines mod all the while getting a head start of knowing a bit more about it.
