Parking lot fun

tonite i was out with a few of my buddies playing basket ball in some parking lot. it was empty and we were getting bored so me and my one friend who drives a mustang decided to have fun with our cars. this being my first time ever doing this with my car was fun. we burned out and took hard turns and E-brake turns and doughnuts. but im a bit confused about my burnout. i drive a 5AT and in neutral i cant rev the engine higher than 5K and that makes for a pretty weak burnout. is there any way i can change that so i can get higher rpms in neut. also when i tried E-brake turns, i didnt get the result id expected. i thought the rear end would swing around and id do somewhat of a 180, but it didnt happen like that. maybe thats the way i drive i dont know. also it seemed liek the car slid more with VSA on, i dont know for sure. all in all this car truly does handle as good as i thought it would. unfortunately my tires probably hate me.

Can't you power brake the AT TSX and get the same effect? That would be gentler on the drive train than a neutral drop.

Just went out and power E-braked my TSX and it does it fine. However you do have to turn off the VSA.

Didn't try the neutral drop. :flamer: Didn't want to flame my trany. That would be stupid.

Torque break = power brake. Hold down the brake, rev it up, and then let go of the brake. I haven't done one yet in the TSX. I was going to do one at a stoplight once, and I noticed that you can only tach up to 2k when the brake is applied. Saw a cop. Changed my mind.

Never neutral drop....worse thing you can do to your tranny! Brake torque is the safest way to get a good launch in a automatic...and even that may cause stress on the tranny. If you plan on using this technique often, it is very wise and economical to invest in a external tranny cooler. They cost around 40 bucks for a Hayden model, and is relatively simple to install. So take precautions if you want your TSX to retain its reliability.....don't hold the brakes down for too long while brake torqueing either. RPMs only go up to between 2 -3K rpm because the stall of the torque converter is limited to that.....to raise it, u need a aftermarket torque converter.

In order to get a FWD (very different to a RWD, unless on snow.) to turn 180 like you want it to do, you need to do the following. You need to shift the weight of the car in the opposite direction that you are going to pull the ebrake. So if you want to ebrake left... you need to steer right for just an instance and then turn left and ebrake. So flick right (not hard just enough to feel the car shift) then flick hard left and pull the ebrake.

Oh yeah... and turn off VSA.

Also... somebody posted a really good explanition of why you shouldn't ever rev your engine in neutral. If your engine is not under load you can damage the engine by revving it in neutral. Hence the electronic limitation.

Man... thats something i did when i was 16 with my 87 Civic!! Now that I PAY for my car... there's no way in hell im going to torture my baby like that. Take it easy man... the TSX is a beautiful car, also ALOT more expensive than a civic. I'd hate for you to mess it up over something foolish.

a.k.a. "The Scandanavian Flick" or "Pendulum Turn", but with the e-brake involved.

Dude, who is this clown doing neutral drops?!?!?!
In a 28k car even. Are they made of money or something?
Gawd, it just drives me nutts when people like this wonder why their cars go out on them in two to three years.

Junkster, who has more respect for well engineered machines to do this on.

The scandy flick can be done if you have some bald tires around. Then there's no need for the ebrake.

Junkster, who loves watching rally cross for that one reason.
