BMW INTRODUCES ITS NEWEST INNOVATION:
ROAD WARMERS
Having spent the last twenty years perfecting the
sports sedan, BMW has now
taken up the ultimate challenge - perfecting the road.
Road Warmers are the result of twenty years of German
engineering. And
represent perhaps the single most important
contribution to the automotive
industry in the past decade.
Road Warmers employ laser technology to ensure
constant road conditions. The
way in which they operate is simple. Underneath the
car, four pivoting convex
lasers are mounted in front of each wheel. The lasers
are aimed at the
pavement directly in front of the tread stance. They
work in tandem with
five-speed turbo fans. So not only do they manage to
melt snow and ice, they
also dry the road of excess moisture. And virtually
eliminate the need to
clear your driveway during winter. Inside the car,
the driver is continually
apprised of the climatic conditions through BMW's
onboard computer and Active
Check Control. This enables the driver to set the
road to a temperature that
best suits their level of performance. The result is
a road that never
changes. Four seasons become one. And performace is
assured like never
before. Eventually Road Warmers will be standard on
all new BMW's. But as
part of a special offer, your dealer will install them
on your present car free
of charge.
But you should hurry. Our offer is only available
today, so you would be a
fool to miss this one.

I was about to say... Hondata really screwed up. Hope that all works out for ya! Dang, I was totally fooled. Guess that makes me a foo. Heh... anyone who trades an Acura for a Kia... got issues.

I did a couple of runs on PCH at Warner, the highway was wide open, and the engine really lugged for me. I had VSA off, and in SS mode, and my wife at the ready with her Timex Ironman watch. We did 6 runs all together and my fastest was around 9.7 seconds 0-60mph. The slowest was around 10.2 sec. My first three runs were not in SS, I just flored it when the light turned green and off I went. A little wheel spin and the engine really got loud in the upper RPMs. I'd never heard it that loud before. It seemed to backfire when the AT shifted into 2nd and then the same loud whine starting around 5000 RPM. On my second run I wanted to see exactly where in the rev range the engine got really loud and that's when I freaked out, the AT was shifting to 2nd at 8300RPM. I thought, "That can't be right". On my third run it did the same thing so the last 3 runs I did in SS mode and made sure to shift at 7600 because thats the higher rev limit hondata was supposed to give me. Anyway, after the last run I could really smell sulfur in the cabin and the engine was idling a little rough so we started back home. At some point on the drive home, I think right around Seal Beach, the engine started to run REALLY rough and i could see black smoke behind me in the rear view mirror. That's when I really got worried. We made a quick decision to head straight for the dealer. Luckily, Acura of Cerritos doesn't close until 7:00pm so we were able to talk to the service rep. I described exactly what happend to me and he told me he had to confer with his manager. After waiting for about 25 minutes (and enjoying the coffee and Krispy Kreme) the service manager and another guy came out. The other guy introduced himself as the owner and asked why I would do modifications to my TSX. I explained all about the reflash, how everybody that had a TSX wanted more power, and that all of the peeps who got the reflash were really happy with the performance increase. He asked me why I just didn't buy a BMW 330i instead. I told him that it cost too much and that's when he told me about his proposal. (Now here's where it gets interesting) He said he would give me the 2003 330i that was on his lot in an even exchange for my TSX. ??????? That just blew me away, so i said sure. When I went to look at the 330i I realized that it was an MT and, since my wife doesn't drive a standard transmission I would have to turn the deal down. He told me that I could take any other car on the lot. Well, after looking around a bit we finally decided....and now I am a proud owner of a 2005 Kia Spectra. It even has air conditioning and power door locks. Today, April Fools Day, is a day I will never forget.
It was April Fools morning and I was bored. Just curious, how far did you read into the story before you were ready to call on me? I wrote it to get progressively more and more unbelievable. So, where did you say ?
a) Disappointed with Hondata
b) Timing with Timex Ironman
c) 0-60 in 10.2sec
d) 8300 RPM
e) black smoke out back
f) Owner asks why i didn't buy 330i instead
g) Owner offers 330i for TSX
h) I turn down 330i
i) I take Kia Spectra instead
I would probably have gotten to the 8300RPM before calling on the story. Anything before that I would have thought that the guy just couldn't drive.

I'd have to say (A). As a user of Hondata on 2 cars now, there's no way to be disappointed.

For me, it was a) when I read it.
I already told that I cheated and went straight to the story end after I read up to "a) Disappointed with Hondata". That already seemed enough after what I've been hearing from other Hondata users.
Also because I was fully aware it was April 1st as a local radio station (Z95 for those familiar) had just revealed a pretty awesome joke of their own that morning Heehee...
