Mods to '06
So far I'm loving this tsx. I've had it about two weeks and really enjoy driving it. The manaul tranny is pure silk.
Looks like an air intake would be a logical first step. And valuable if they ever release an '06 Hondata reflash. Do you think the small gains will be similar for the 06's vs 04/05's? I see that the engine already breathes easier due to increased TB and intake size. Are we getting to a point where the gains will be neglible or will it still help? Any dyno's done for modded '06's yet?
I'm thinking the icebox just because I'd like to keep the noise levels close to stock.
Thanks

The icebox seems a logical mod. First, you should try taking the resonator off and see how it performs. With the "breathing" improvements on the 06 I don't know if the 06 resonator is any less restrictive, or if the air filter box is any bigger, to take advantage of the improvements. If they are the same as the 04 then I think you would definitely see improvements with the icebox.

I used to have an Icebox and teh Injen is a better route to go. The gains are much more noticable and there is not much of an increase in volume. Another option might be an RT cat mod as the exhaust systems look nearly identical.

Especially given the larger-bore (68mm = 2.67"?) throttle body on the '06, the 2.25" tubing of an '04/'05 CAI might not be ideal. My diy CAI uses 3.5" tubing, which trades some low-rpm air velocity for high-rpm flow. The stock intake tube (from the stock box to the throttle body) also goes from 3.5" i.d. to about 2.5" i.d., giving it some air-accelerator properties.

Thanks for your replies. Initially I was thinking Injen for sure. Then I saw the newer dyno's for the icebox vs injen which showed that the icebox was very similar in performance. The 50 or 60 bucks is really not an issue; however the Injen would probably be more painful for filter removal/cleaning. I plan on keeping the car for quite awhile.
I am intrigued by Peter's idea of larger tubing from the stock box down to the fender area on a DIY intake. Hmm...
