To mod or not to mod?

I have a small problem.. i love my 06 CGP and i wanna make a few mods on it.. but my friend's are telling me that the acura dealerships are real jerks about the warranty.. i just got my car 3 months ago so i've got a long way to go... I was thinking about doing the IHE as well as a subwoofer... do you guys think it's worth the risk? how many of you have had problems with voided warrantys? and any guys out there with mods on your warrantied car?

It really depends on the dealership. I have Tein SS coils and a system in my car, the dealership did not even question me when I brought it in for warranty.

If you goto a certain dealership and they give you bs about the mods, then go try another dealership.

Unless the modification directly caused the malfunction the dealership cannot legally void the warranty.

They can only void warranty for the part you modded. So for your IHE, you void your engine, cat, and maybe ECU warranty. For your subwoofer, you void your audio and electrical warranty.

I think it's best to just call your dealerships. They can give the best answer...even if they varies slightly from one another.

Nothing needs to be written down. Bottom line, if you have a warranty issue and a modified part was NOT the direct cause, then they cant deny the claim. So for instance if your AC dies and you have an aftermarket exhaust installed, they cant blame the exhaust for the AC failure. Besides the fact that it would be incredibly stupid for the dealer to do, its also illegal according to the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.

So relax and mod away.

Dude, read my post. Here is another link.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnuson-Moss_Warranty_Act

It is a FEDERAL LAW. Honda/Acura has jack and shit to do with anything. They are not above it.
