Maybe you should just shove your hand in a barrel-full of ice and water until it's numb. After that you won't feel the heat as such.......ya big girl's blouse.

Pfft! Since when were sissies allowed on this forum?

Dan, any word on the engraved shift pattern knob yet? I have a MOMO race airleather and it is alittle to light, although I think it fits the interior of the car perfectly. Would be interested in getting one with the shift pattern. Damn valet parkers.

I'm just getting settled into my new place across the city from where I used to live, but I'm going to get back into manufacturing shortly. The AT version is the next priority, with the engraved MT version following shortly after.

Thanks again to all those who have ordered already, I really had no idea this was going to be such a multinational project!

Not to get off topic but yeah, at a funeral I was at for my uncle, one of the workers offered to park my car for me. Older gentlemen, from the time when most cars were pretty much manuals. Got in it and wow, my 5 year old nephew could probably drive it better than him . My clutch is probably hating me right now. No more valet for me. I'll still pay 'em, but I'm parking it.

Thanks for the update Dan. I keep and waiting for the engraved model.

instead of the laser etching or how ever it was done in the above pictures, can you emboss the letters with black print? and make them a little smaller

Good to see you went with the laser engraving, that's what I have done for the prototypes. Standard engraving with paint is ok, but the paint will eventually wear off like it did on my OEM knob.

The colour is a direct result of the power level used and depth the laser penetrates.
I quite like the colour it's turned out as it's subtle rather than bold, just like the majority of knobs made by everyone and sundry.

I'll get the satin finished one up tomorrow for comparison.

As for laser engraving as opposed to typical engraving - it just seems that touch more classy than what everyone else has done on theirs.

Forgot to add, I wouldn't see the point in making the pattern smaller.
The company I used to do it, just copied the OEM one I sent along with the Maven knob, and scaled it down a little, IIRC.
If you had a specific design in mind, then a scaled png/jpg could be provided that to any company that does laser engraving/etching and they'd be able to replicate it for you.
You'd need to put the knob in place, then mark the underside with a line that give them the orientation for the pattern - I didn't, in my haste!

No big deal as I'm due to drop a short shifter in, and I'll take a sliver off the lever with a dremel if needs be, so the thread starts further round than it does otherwise.

Might send the satin one over to be done, and tell them to increase the power level.

It's worth the money. I sold my DC5R knob for the Maven knob. It's that much better.

The Skunk2 knob weighs almost the same (slightly lighter) but the main difference is in the shape. The Skunk2 is more of a cylindrical oval shape, while the Maven is wider at the top and tapers down to the bottom. It's a matter of personal preference to which shape you prefer. I prefer the Maven, but my friend with the Skunk2 prefers his knob instead.

I had the skunk2 prior to the Maven. Both are great choices, but overall I prefer the Maven due to the wider top (I also dig not having a shift pattern).

Yeah, I don't need the shift pattern, but I am worried of the day where I take it in for some service and someone gets confused about where to put it into reverse.... So far, no problems though. :-)

Print out the shift pattern on paper, seal it with some cellotape and stick it on the gearstick trim.

I've had the odd request here and there for the AT version, but I haven't had enough interest to run a batch yet. The MT version continues to sell well though.

it's a matter of different threading and depth, right? since you're producing an un-labeled MT version

That, and the bottom of the knob is a different design. The MT knob is flat to sit flush with the boot, the AT one is more rounded.

Not to flame or anything, but I don't see the big deal for ATers. The main selling point of this knob is that it's weighted to help row through the MT's gears.
