Maven Shift Knob

Maybe you should just shove your hand in a barrel-full of ice and water until it's numb. After that you won't feel the heat as such.......ya big girl's blouse.

Dan, any word on the engraved shift pattern knob yet? I have a MOMO race airleather and it is alittle to light, although I think it fits the interior of the car perfectly. Would be interested in getting one with the shift pattern. Damn valet parkers.

I'm just getting settled into my new place across the city from where I used to live, but I'm going to get back into manufacturing shortly. The AT version is the next priority, with the engraved MT version following shortly after.
Thanks again to all those who have ordered already, I really had no idea this was going to be such a multinational project!

instead of the laser etching or how ever it was done in the above pictures, can you emboss the letters with black print? and make them a little smaller

Good to see you went with the laser engraving, that's what I have done for the prototypes. Standard engraving with paint is ok, but the paint will eventually wear off like it did on my OEM knob.

The colour is a direct result of the power level used and depth the laser penetrates.
I quite like the colour it's turned out as it's subtle rather than bold, just like the majority of knobs made by everyone and sundry.
I'll get the satin finished one up tomorrow for comparison.
As for laser engraving as opposed to typical engraving - it just seems that touch more classy than what everyone else has done on theirs.

Forgot to add, I wouldn't see the point in making the pattern smaller.
The company I used to do it, just copied the OEM one I sent along with the Maven knob, and scaled it down a little, IIRC.
If you had a specific design in mind, then a scaled png/jpg could be provided that to any company that does laser engraving/etching and they'd be able to replicate it for you.
You'd need to put the knob in place, then mark the underside with a line that give them the orientation for the pattern - I didn't, in my haste!
No big deal as I'm due to drop a short shifter in, and I'll take a sliver off the lever with a dremel if needs be, so the thread starts further round than it does otherwise.
Might send the satin one over to be done, and tell them to increase the power level.

Yeah, I don't need the shift pattern, but I am worried of the day where I take it in for some service and someone gets confused about where to put it into reverse.... So far, no problems though. :-)

I've had the odd request here and there for the AT version, but I haven't had enough interest to run a batch yet. The MT version continues to sell well though.

always thought about picking one of these knobs up but after reading through the thread some says is almost identical weight with the skunk2 so i'll have to put more thought into this. but very nice knob !
