I'm at 3500 miles and my oil is at the bottom marker. I'm not surprised because I smelled a lot being burned when I first go the the car, and supposedly VTEC always burns a lot.

I have free oil and changes from my dealer (currently 250miles away while I'm at school) but I want to fill her up to a safer level for now.

I figure I'll drop a quart in for now, but is there a certain type I should put in to mix w/ the Honda oil?

 

call the dealer to see what they use and get the same...What are you talking about with the burning smell and VTEC. I have never heard of that before.

 

i found a nice mix to be plutonium type B and pure hydrogen. Gives you a nice kick in the ass when accelerating.

 

A brand new TSX burns the additives from the special Honda oil they put in the car. In addition VTECing around will burn oil as well, seems like its a common feature of the K series engines. My roommates Prelude and friend's S2000 also burn a lot of oil from VTEC.

 

I don't believe the dealers have the same oil that the TSX comes with from the factory. Unitl you first oil change a quart of good brand motor oil (Quaker State?) 5W-30 should be fine.
