Let`s cut some weight
if anyone has any great ideas to cut weight, lets get it going. Less weight=increased Hp. Besides lighter wheel/tire combo what else can we do?

It all depends what your intents are. If you want a full blown race car there's all kinds of places to shave pounds.
It will be hard to retain the original feel of the car when you start chopping weight but I would start at replacing the seats with some lightweight buckets. From there, the hood weighs a lot so if you can find a CF part that would be good.

Would I ever dream of doing any of this? Heck no! I don't have a death wish.

That SVT kicking your ass has really shaken your confidence it seems. You'll solve all of your weight concerms by simply not racing , or start racing Non-SVT Focus's and Geo Metro's

You can save tremendous amount of weight by doing what these guys did to the Sentra.
It costed 0$ and they were able to bring down the 1/4mile time by 2 seconds. The 0-60 was down by 3 seconds!

lgregoir: classic link. I can never see it enough.
Plus another prime example of wheel weight effecting track times. 13lbs per corner lost, increase of .5 seconds 0-60 and .3 in the quarter mile The tsx wheels are tanks at 48lbs wheel + tire...going down to 36lbs or so would not be too hard nor expensive.

remember, if you replace the front seats, you risk having none of your airbags working.... I know this is exacly what happens in the RSX's. I'd hate to be the guy who found that out...

[B]Well your premise is correct but your conclusion is wrong.... less weight does not equal to increased HP... what it does offer is better power to weight ratio.... i take it that's what you meant. I know people who get rid of their spare tire... then they go with lighter alloy rims/tires on all fours... remove the passenger seat if you are going to a track. [/
thats exactly what i meant. I was just stating in a simple manor

It's quite funny actually. The guy is so upset he lost a race he desperately wants to figure out how to shed weight off the car. Meanwhile he was racing with 2 passengers. :shakehd:

turn off the heated seats, heated mirrors (if you have a canadian version) and AC... These accesories suck power like crazy...
My car seem to be bogging (a dip in power for .05 second) in second gear at around 3,500RPM when the heated seats are turned on. I don't know if it's normal but when those accesories are turned off, the bogging does not occur.
You can remove the brake rotors and calipers to save weight but don't ask me to get in your ride for a spin
Regards

Seat heaters, heated mirrors, and pretty well anything electric doesn't draw horsepower when you use them.
