Intake Cam Swap for '05 (?)

There's a great article in the September '12 Honda Tuning edition about a CompTech supercharger install on an '04 TSX. It says that the '05 exhaust cams are fine, but that that the '06-08 intake cams are better because the high-speed lobe is bigger.

Would an '05 benefit from the '06-08 intake cams without the supercharger?

Would it work without a FlashPro? (I have a standard Hondata reflash).

06 is the best cam...even better then the 09 cams as well. However, you are correct without flashpro (not flash), you can not tune the cam or (should place an RBC 45 degree in there at the time) VTC gear without it.

There is a comparison of the cam profiles out there. The low speed cam of the 09 intake cam is definitely better than what came in the 04-08. I have this cam and cam gear installed in my car, non-vtec daily driving is definitely improved. Add an 06+ throttle body and intake manifold, and it's even better! The high cam on the 09 is ever so slightly less lift (2%?) than the 06-08, but if you wait the area you spend in each rpm zone, the 09 may win. My daily driving is almost completely low cam...

That break down of the cams by honda tuner said the 06+ cam was still better then the 09. However, if the OP did a RBC vtc to 45 and the cam upgrade....he would feel the change. RRC IM with a J36 TB and he would feel it even more, but would need flashpro to tune correctly.

Anyone wanna protect their investment )) I have you both guys in my pocket , brian crower have both profiles bigger better and still run smooth and cams are much better than 08 and 09 .

+1 for 90% if the drive we r on a low cam but not shure 09 cam worth to buy it new. If you have 04 06 or 09 - just stay where you r , no reason to jump between oem ones unless you have a steal deal like 150 bucks for cam. Wanna more pawa - just go for aftermarket st2 cams.
