as all we know DBW put down fun driving often....
does icebox gives better response? how about injen and typhoon?

if any aftermarket intake gives even slight better response, i am ordering it now... if someone gives me good link to purchase, u will be blessed....

Comptech Icebox = better low to mid end response, not as much top end gain
Injen/Typhoon CAI = loss of power in the low end but gain more at the top end

If you're after better throttle response, then the Icebox is the one to get.

If you're really after instant-response from the go-pedal, any short-ram system will suit your fancy. But then again, the top end gains are usually pretty negligable because they aren't drawing in cool air.

I have an Injen and love it. Coupled with the DC Sports header, it provides plenty of fun over a stock TSX, in terms of responsiveness.

I have the CT Icebox and I think it improved throttle response. The Icebox air box lid is larger volume so there is more already-filtered air available when you mash the throttle.

I found the response slightly better than stock when I put the Injen in (this was pre-DC Sports header). Once the header was on, the response was a lot better than stock.

I've driven several cars with the Injen CAI and there's definitely some loss of power/torque down low compared to stock.

I notice many have equated throttle response to gain. Sure, it can happen but not necessarily the same. A good throttle response is how quickly and smoothly the engine reacts to throttle inputs. If you physically turn the throttle plate quickly, does the engine response with quick rpm increase without the slightest hesitation? Good throttle response is something you can feel but the actual measurement of gain has to be done on the dyno. Btw, louder sound doesn't mean power either.

completely agree. People tend to get it mixed up around here.

Also agreed. Which is why some people probably think I'm crazy for saying "throttle response with the Injen is better than stock". But in reality, the response IS better, it's the actual power output that's a bit lacking down low. They aren't the same.

Response = what JTso said -- A good throttle response is how quickly and smoothly the engine reacts to throttle inputs.

The Injen and most intakes allow better response (larger diameter and more efficiently-flowing tubing = more air available to be sucked into the engine in a hurry).

Well Dol , I went with the Injen and my throttle is great not to mention the sound. I would stick with Injen or AEM for such a purchase. My next mod will be a header but I havent decided which company yet.

I have the MT now, 1ST I had the AT for about 6 months but I crashed it up during a high speed chase but that is another story. I really cant say that I noticed a loss of power at low rpms. I believe the loss is so minor that it is hard to feel. Also I very rarely drive normal I push the car on a regular basis.

I went with the CAI. I was told by my tech that it is better than the SR. I really enjoy the sound. Although I do feel its a little sluggish when it is really hot out with a high humidity. However in the cooler months I really enjoy an early morning drive you can just feel that baby sucking in the cool air

In thinking that throttle response might be helped by having more air available, I used the '06 intake tube, the part between the airbox and the engine, on my '05. It's a small increase, but it's also not expensive -- it's easy to try and easy on the budget. Hard to say how much it helped, because it's such a small improvement and it's all subjective.

I looked at doing that as well. I think there is a small difference in the inside diameter of that intake tube. Some time ago I sat down and figured out that the difference would account for something like 10% more airflow.

you nerd

I would agree though, just calculated it based on the diameter and length difference (assuming lengths are the same) and go from there. Hey, 10% is better than 0%
