Ingalls ETD off for wintertime
Just took off the Ingalls ETD shock for wintertime. It was getting too noisey with the cold weather. Of course it would quiet down went the engine bay got hot, but I just don't want to hear it anymore. Anyone else in the Northern side of the continent remove there's too?

I might remove mine for winter as well, making that annoying click sound when I press/release the throttle. I noticed it only happens around -5C and colder.

I used to take the one off I had on my civic for the winter because it would turn every seat in the car into a vibrating massage chair for the first 20 to 30 minutes the car ran. The smoothness of the TSX is on a whole different planet than the civic though.

just went and did that same because i too have noticed the annoyance that came with the winter time. took less than 5 mins to remove 2 bolts i also noticed that the brake lines have been scraped up and the unit itself is very loose due to the contact it makes with the etd. may put it back on during summertime not sure yet.

I have that "Klock" sound too and first I thought it was coming from the wheel, but the sound only appears when you step hard on the gas abruptly.

So I guess it's confirm that the ETD will MAKE a "KLOCK" noise when you press on the throttle.
But I wonder why does the noise came from driver side and not passenger side, since the ETD is on the passenger side...

Mine sounds right in the middle and think about where the bracket is tied to... the OEM tower bar ties into the center of the engine bay near the fire wall.
Vibrations from the ETD hit the chassis bracket and resonate through the strut bar and to the firewall.

so this is normal and i should take my etd off i just got a new transmission from the dealer and decided to put the etd on right after and its been annoying as hell i was thinking that something went wrong with the installation every time i hit the gas it doesnt sound so good for my engine with aloud clickin sound and wen im in drive hittin the brakes my car vibrates like crazy coming from the passenger side also after i got the new transmission but b4 i put in the etd i realized there was a clicking sound from within the gauges wen im in reverse or braking on drive at around 15 mphs and down to 5 mph the same clicking noise comes about so i told the dealer and they said to come back in today but while i was driving tonight i realized that the clicking is not as ez to pinpoint anymore because of the etd vibrations should i take of the etd b4 i go into the dealer and am i supposed to keep it off during winter ?? im thinking that something went wrong with the installation is it normally supposed to vibrate like that ?? and what difference exactly am i supposed to feel with the etd on ?? sorry first mod that went into the engine bay ever in my life lol....

you can check the ETD thread for the specifics, but let's just say it helps to minimize the torque loss of the motor on the motor mounts putting it back to the wheels. Take off the shock to verify that other issues are un/related to your tranny repair.

I guess your total lack of punctuation, capitalization or any attempt at grammar or spelling could be somewhat allayed by the fact you're using a phone. Doesn't that thing have a full keyboard though? I'm just asking for a period here or there so your stream of consciousness is a little more decipherable. It's a pain in the ass when I have to reread a post 3 times just to figure out what some one is asking.
But yeah, the ETD is like a 5 minute job involving a ratchet and box end wrench to swap in or out.

I took mine out this fall, the vibration and noises were driving me nuts and I didn't really notice a lot of benefit from the ETD. I'm going to experiment with some grommet/washer/isolator combinations to see if I can come up with a livable solution. The buzziness was just too much for me and spoiled the NVH bliss of the TSX. I haven't had it on during the winter but can imagine what 30-40 degrees colder would do...

Yeah, it does its job. The issue is just that the resonance it a bit much in the cold of winter. I would be willing to part with mine if interested. It isn't that I don't like it or that it doesn't do anything, I just enjoyed it for one summer and never put it back on. So let me know if you or anyone for that matter is interested in it. It is in perfect condition.

It transmits vibrations to the firewall at idle or running. Think about it, you are tying your motor vibrations to the top of your shock mount which is tied into your firewall and thus the cabin. It isn't annoying to me, but look at what I have on my car... just one more noise added to the others.
