i got an escort g-timer and did some runs..

ive been desperate to know if my AT '04 tsx is really as slow as everyone says.. well.. yer all right. :-P

my mods are custom exhaust, injen intake, hondata, and rear sway.

i did a few runs, and with the exception of one that got screwed up by a dip in the road, all my 0-60 times were about 7.9, 8.0. sad, yes.
i did however try a 0-60 run on a slight downhill, and got a time of 6.75. a fake sense of good acceleration. oh well.

I still would like to see a 5-60 run, since 0-60s and 1/4 times always have traction and other issues that make it an unreliable indicator of a car's performance. 8 sec. 0-60 isn't that discouraging, maybe because that's pretty much what I thought it would be. If anyone else has tested their 6MT on an escort g-timer, it might be good to see that data for a rough comparison of the tranmissions.

I still say this isn't any good without a reference, and a 5-60 is a better indicator of power.

However, at face value.....damn, that sucks.

The TSX isn't going to get good 0-60 times, but its top gear times are pretty impressive. The TSX will actually go from 30-50 faster than a Legacy GT

Bone stock.

The best I can muster with my sri in warmer weather is about 7.1.

WHOA. ok take all this slow AT crap back, i got some new times.

i went back to that straightaway i was talking about, with no bumps, perfectly level. i did 3 runs, and my 0-60 times were 7.48, 7.55, and 7.77. im suprised, because.. well ya, my car felt a lot faster than it was with those other runs. i think its to do with the cold (ive read on here that colder temps = more power). it was 58 degrees outside, as opposed to when i did the other runs in about 68 degree weather. i have to say, though, doesnt seem like that would make a huge diff.

but to sum all that up: yay, my AT isnt THAT slow!

Nope, indeed, 10°F wouldn't make a noticeable difference.

Maybe your ECU has adopted a more agressive fuel map after all those runs, but even that wouldn't justify such an improvement. Maybe your launch was just better?

7.4 =

And I'd be more interested in seeing 5-60 and higher speed runs with all the mods you have. I'm sure the car would be alot faster in those circumstances. It takes alot to improve on 0-60 times.

This is just a product of Car & Driver's weird testing parameters.

They leave manuals in the last gear, even when running from 30-50mph. The turbo lag in the Subie in 5th gear at 30mph has to be brutal......

In comparison, automatics will kick down a gear, so they test out much better in that regard. Look at the new Hyundai Sonata, a car with similar 0-60 times to the TSX.....

In the real world, if the Subie driver downshifted to 2nd, he would rip both the TSX and the Hyundai, but CD has it the slowest
