Hytech Full Exhaust Impressions...

I just installed the exhaust system yesterday and had a few days to drive around and had a few sprinted sessions. Now first i'll start with the sound. When first starting the car you can hear a nice deep tone but settles down once the car warms up and you can barely hear that the car has an exhaust system. When driving its not raspy at all.. still nice and deep. You hear it more within the first 3 gears and after that its really low and hard to hear... 5th and 6th gear cruising you dont hear anything really unless you mash the gas.

Now with sprinted driving..

The car just screams! You can actually hear the vtec cross over @5k rpms (reflash). Before this i had the DC header and RT Cat on the stock exhaust. The car pulls alot harder than that combo i had and has more of a solid feel when accelerating now. I can only just imagine how much faster this car is gonna be after I install these stage 2 cams..

Any problems with CEL's? Mine goes on/off for the last week or so after getting it done at a shop. So annoying.

Was this with the hytech full exhaust?? I have no CEL's.. runs very well and its used. Dyno day is set for this thursday at 9am so i'll post the numbers. Hopefull they still have my old dyno sheet on file so they can compare the difference from when i just had the reflash and DC header. Im gonna try to record the dyno session from my phone so hopefully all goes well with that.

I think the wait time has been significantly reduced to just a few weeks for new parts my Hytech header+cat should be here Friday

For confirmation, Josh @ Excelerate deals with them so you can either go through him or contact Hytech directly. Their stuff is very expensive, but based on the dynos/impressions it looks like it's worth it.

No. Mine is the Mugen but I have heard that some 06's have trouble clearing that light.

Oh Snap! You're getting a Hytech setup?! Dang....you're definitely maxing out your TSX!! That's my dream exhaust setup with the SC. With that plus K-Pro and more boost, you should easily be over 300 whp.

Who said I'm going K-Pro ???

Actually, I didn't order the full Hytech setup, just the header and 2.5" cat. I plan to mod the B-pipe on my Comptech catback as I'm hoping it will still provide sufficient exhaust flow for my purposes.

I talked to John @ Hytech, and I was incorrect - it looks like the wait time is still a few months at minimum. He said that I just got REALLY lucky because he had just finished building an extra header very recently .

Precyse, sorry to hijack your thread - congrats on the setup! I can't wait to feel the difference for myself .

I was actually saying "if" you were to go K-Pro. It was all hypothetically speaking of course

And great review Precyse. I look forward to more impressions as you drive the car more. I'm also looking forward to those dyno numbers. Definitely keep us posted. If you mod the VTC and get K-Pro later, you'll really be able to extract some power

Ok.. i went to the dyno yesterday morning and im not disappointed but thought i would gain more overall HP but i pretty much gained every where under redline. Im gonna scan the dyno graph later but its dyno jet. Last time i was there for a dyno it was back in 05 and they kept my old dyno readings from when i had I/H/reflash. I made 184hp and 156tq back in 05 but that was not SAE corrected. Now the reason i say this is because now my new numbers are 183hp and 152tq SAE corrected. Regardless i didnt gain much on top but they put both the old and new dyno together and i made about 11hp down low and at midrange.

It confused the hell out of me at first because i was thinking i lost power when i first saw the dyno graph. But after he went from SAE to STD i understood what was going on. I dont know if having 103k miles means anything but my butt dyno tells me im faster. It was also raining here and it took him some time to get the car on the dyno so i dont know if that affected the results as well? The car was still dripping wet! I used my phone to take vids so im gonna see if i can upload them later as well.

I would imagine that if your tires were still wet when you got on the rollers that could have caused traction issues which may have affected your results? I don't know, I've never dyno'd before.

i never saw or heard them slip but the car was belted down.. and the graph was pretty smooth as well so im not sure. uncorrected it said i made 192hp so if i compare that to my old dyno that was "uncorrected".. its not that bad of a gain.

The standard Hondata reflash wasn't mapped to take advantage of the increased exhaust flow, so you won't see more subtantial gains until you go K-Pro and do more engine work. However, you now have an excellent base to work off .

Yuppers.. all the reason why i was only going to go with Hytech! I still gained throughout the entire powerband which was enough to hold off a R32 last night..

You should ask for the actual dyno files so you can do the comparison using the dyno jet software (free download).

So you cant use the hytech header and cat with other exhausts without modificaton? I was planning on eventually running that steup with my J's racing exhaust.

^ You have to modify the B-pipe. Was just talking to John, but I'm so confused of what to buy, K-Pro or header...
