How do you paint calipers?
#3
It's time consuming....if you SEARCH for "calipers" you'll fine some threads on painting calipers....I know Fury has done it, as well as myself. We both have black with white Acura decals on ours.
I'm sure he will tell you also that this process sucks....You have to put on at least 4 coats of paint (also taping around the pad and other places so you won't paint over in spots you don't want) and making sure you let them settle at least 24-48hrs before driving.
I had red calipers before but I only put on 2 coats and it started chipping so that's why I painted mine black. I'd figure it'd be easier to touch up a black color than if my red stayed on for a longer period to find a matching red color.
Here is my red on my calipers...
Here's the new Black with white Acura decals...I like it a little better...a bit more conservative and classier IMO....

btw...I used the G2 caliper paint system...you can get it for 34 bucks shipped off of ebay... and as far as decals, I'm not going to refer you to the person I bought them from, he took a long time to get them to me so screw him...

I painted mine blue.....used the G2 paint also. I only put on 2 coats because thats what it said but its held up well so far. It looks pretty good, well worth it. But it is time consuming as you have to remove each wheel, paint carefully, let it dry for 24 hours, etc. It wasnt that difficult just it was time consuming thats all. I have those acura decals but never put them on, i didnt know how it would look but from those pics it looks pretty damn good.

I painted the calipers on my Z black. It's very easy, simple process. It cost me about $15, took about 1 hour to apply the paint, and I only waited about 4 hours before I was driving the car. I've read a lot of threads on the subject from various car forums prior to painting my calipers. I think people tend to exaggerate the process, and spend too much money on supplies . My results were as good as anyone elses, here's what I did:
1. Purchased brake cleaner, a wire brush, and some spray on caliper paint from Pep Boys
2. Took off the wheel, cleaned the calipers with the brake cleaner and wire brush. (I had about 1 years worth of brakedust baked onto my calipers, but they looked new when I was done. This is probably the most important step in the process.)
3. Masked off everything (rotor, exposed parts of the pad, etc.) except the caliper with masking tape and newspaper.
4. Sprayed the caliper, waited a few min. sprayed another coat, waited a couple more min. and applied a final coat, then moved on to the next caliper
5. I waited about 4 hours before I started driving/joyriding. I checked the paint after about 20 min. of driving they were fine. I checked them again when I came home, they were fine. Paint was still there, uncracked, unchipped a year later when I traded in the Z.
good luck

I think he's still around but i wouldn't get it from him again. The seller is a punk that took his time shipping my decals.

I used the G2 kit, too, painted mine black (w/ NBP car) and white Acura emblems from ebay. (That's a photo of mine up close earlier in the thread.) It's held up well, I sprayed a couple coats of super-hi-temp clear engine/exhaust paint to "seal" the Acura emblems -- seems to have worked well.
I put two coats of black and two coats of clear on each caliper. To my eye, it's a great improvement over the base metal stock look, without being flashy or eye-catching. They're small calipers, I was more interested in dressing them up than pointing them out.

Some of mine aren't so gold anymore either... Still, I'd probably make a mess trying to paint them, so I'm probably better off leaving well enough alone... but I think it would look good.
