Hondata Heatshield Installed (by a novice)

Well I finally got around to installing the Hondata heatshield I bought a few weeks ago. I am not writing up a full install guide as JTso already did an awesome job of that (i used that along with the service manual).

I just wanted to add my impressions of the install for any of the non-experts that wanted to install it. The install took a little longer than I expected (I have only dismantled an engine to this degree once before for a valve cover gasket replacement on a friends car) and it took me about 3.5 hours. Everything is pretty straight forward I just took my time and spent forever working on the PITA intake manifold bracket.

After everything was done I checked for leaks and took it for a drive and everything seemed to be fine. It also made a 140 mile roundtrip voyage (i drive to Colorado Springs for my first marathon).

I am glad I did the install on my own, it nice to see the inner workings of the engine and to be able to say I did it on my own.

Next mod: dc header (in the near future....)

$375 pays for a R/T ticket for JTso to Texas and some beer.

A lot more fun than some shop hooligans as well. I asked back when I had the leak on my RT fixed. The install is not that hard and definitely not worth $375. If you have an awesome set of tools and the time, anyone can do it.
