eliminating the cat

Hey yall i was just wondering there is a practice done around here by people looking for more power out of thier cars. Where they either get a catback and run straight piping orrrrrrrr some performance shops will hollow out the catalytic converter.
My question is what are the ramifications of doing this if any besides it not being street legal and not passing emissions???

IN addition to not being street legal its going to be loud and some might even say bad sounding. Unless you are drag racing I would say it would make your TSX worse, not better.

Serves 4

Kitten Pot Pie

" Easy Kitten Pot Pie. "

Ingredients

* 4 skinless, boneless Kitten halves
* 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of Kitten soup
* 2 (15 ounce) cans mixed vegetables, drained
* 1 recipe pastry for a 9 inch single crust pie

Directions

1. Boil or steam the Kitten halves until done. Dice.
2. Mix together undiluted soup, canned vegetables, and diced Kitten. Pour mixture into pie shell, and cover with the second crust. Crimp the edges, and make slits in the top crust.
3. Bake at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for 45 minutes, or until crust is golden brown.

you can get a performance cat that will still be legal and you gain some performance.

Definitly do not eliminate the cat converter. Like DEVO said, get a aftermarket cat converter such as Random Tech.

I cleared the cat on both my 85 & 90 IROCs. Without adjusting the air\fuel mixture, it actually slowed the cars down. I used Flowmaster mufflers, so the sound was very nice, however, we're talking V8 muscle nice. I doubt it would be worth the effort because the engine doesn't flow enough exhaust to really make a difference. Also, and I've seen this with Corvettes, clearing the cat will change the frequency/resonance of the exhaust and may cause awful audible vibrations in the vehicle that will drone you out at certain rpms. Best wait for tested exhaust systems.
