Comptech SS Exhaust Quiet Tips Install

I installed the Comptech Quiet Tips for those times when I have to cart around the baby and wife. They took about 10 mins to install (cleaning the tips, fitting, drilling, and installing). It brings the car back to near stock sound. There is still a hint of the SS exhaust, but definitely much more quiet in the cabin area.

They aren't too bad. Probably will get better with a little carbon build up.

I prefer them off of course, but at 6am with my son in the back, I'm sure he'll enjoy the peace and quiet. I figure whenever I want to have a little fun again, off they come, otherwise, I can't wait to see if they impact fuel economy... assuming more back pressure.

Well, if you look at the second pic, there is a screw at the top. After you push the quiet tips in SNUG, you drill through the holder tab and into one wall of the double wall outlets on the SS Exhaust (do not drill all the way through). Comptech provides the drill bit too. Takes 1 min to put on and take off after that.

I don't know mileage with/without the quiet tips b/c I just put them in. However, b/t stock and SS Exhaust, I saw no difference... well, maybe like .2 miles per gallon. Nothing that a few quick accelerations wouldn't negate.

mm really, thats pretty cool. is it mainly a sound change (stock to aftermarket) or is there more power? do u notice a powerloss with the silencers in?

It was to change my Comptech SS exhaust to something a little more quiet. I don't think anyone has felt more power with just a cat back exhaust. I felt the car was more responsive, but I wouldn't say more power. With the quiet tips in, I think it might be oh so slightly less responsive. I've done so many things to the car it is tough to tell if one has made more of a difference than another.

Actually I've seen a dyno that compared runs with and without the silencer on an Integra. It actaully made more power with it up to a certain point. I think it was in the mid 6k. Since it was an Ls and only went to 7 it was better with so who knows how it will change on the TSX. I've got it on my teg with the silencer and it's perfect. Thinking of picking it up for the TSX some time when I've too much money laying around.

I have a silencer for the muffler on my Integra and it rattles like no other. Hopefully these won't do that to ya because it sounds really ghetto when I'm idling.

So far so good, but it hasn't been 24 hrs yet.

I jammed those babies in tight then drilled for the pilot hole. Removed them and drilled the rest of the way. Then reinstalled.... VERY TIGHT. I'll keep everyone up to date.

Worst case, I go back to not using them.

Well, if you know anyone who wants a sweet house in Crystal Lake, IL, we can get the process moving along.

BTW, there's a few more things to come....

Comptech RSB
22mm poly bushing for RSB with grease fittings
Hondata (post 50k turn-over)

I'm kinda interested in these for long trips...listening to that exhaust is fun around town, tho I've gotten kind of sick of the drone when cruising at 80mph.

How do they look when they are out? I'd hate to ugly up an exhaust that cost me nearly a grand ya know. Also how the hell did you fit a drill above the exhaust tip??

You don't drill above the exhaust tip, you drill inside, facing upward, in the tip.

They exhaust is complete stock when you take them out. These just insert inside the Comptech tips.

Bringing up an old thread, but i just installed these quiet tips on my tsx. Before purchasing these i found my car to be too loud and somewhat annoying with custom high flow cat and comptech exhaust. Now with these, with my current setup my exhaust sounds more like a "fast sports car" instead of deep loud tone i had before. Totally loving the sound! 3 Thumbs up if i had an extra. ^^

Never posted pics of my ride, but expect to see some up in the picture thread sometime this weekend.

I take mine out every now and then. BTW, I recommend you go to the hardware store and get some SS metal screws. They seem to hold up longer than the ones with the tips, if you take the tips out every now and then.

Does you quiet tip lay firmly in place once you screw it in? I seem to have very small amount of movement on the bottum of the tip if i were to push on it. I drilled two seperate pilot holes near each other and it still doesnt seem to lay firmly in place once screwed in.

WOW!! Wish I would've seen this. I took the butt of a hammer and squarely (or round in this case) pushed them in. Then I marked the holes. So long as you get them in correctly, no rattles.

That's cool, please post some pics, I'd love to see how they look. I am thinking about getting 225 instead of the stock 215.

thanks!
