Article on Hondata's extensive perfomance TSX testing

Over the past 10 months we have tested a number of parts on the TSX and done something like 500 dyno runs. Here is our guide to to what works well and what does not. You wanted information - well here it is. This should give you a direction for fitting parts. I shall be away on vacation for 5 weeks soon and will not be able to post any replies - so no stealing my TSX while I am gone!

Awesome article. So when is Toda supposed to release this header? Also, since gains were also seen by lowering VTEC to 4000 rpm, why isn't the reflash set to this? Any chance of developing a K-pro unit specifically for the TSX?

1) Ask Toda. It's their prototype
2) Read the article again
3) See answer 2

Thank you for the information. Looking forward for more aftermarket upgrades to come along. Hopefully, it won't be long before we can do all this to our engines. I'm sure once our warranty goes out, you'll have tons of people lined up to buy the k-pro and anything else you'll make available to us.

"The stock RBB manifold is uses a long narrow runner which is good for torque, whereas the RBC intake from the Accord Euro R uses shorter fatter runners optimized for high rpm breathing. The RBC intake is a direct replacement for the RBB. The RBB manifold is also used on the 160hp 2.4 Accord."

Would it be a wise decision if we swap for the RBC header?

As stated in the article, K20 engine (like on the Euro-R) headers do not fit on the K24. So you cannot swap for the RBC one, you're better off w/ the CompTech or DC

Where would you go to do this kind of modification? A Machine Shop? If so how much would this kind of job run by?

my bad...I meant RBC intake manifold. Is it better to swap our RBB intake manifold for RBC intake manifold?

Freakin' AWESOME write-up... bookmarked. Regarding the supercharged K24 -- drool to be wiped up shortly...

So essentially, best bang-for-buck mod is the Hondata Reflash. Then the Hondata heatshield.

Then I'd assume a CAI, correct?

But if $600 USD isn't available for the reflash, what is the best mod -- the heatshield, or the CAI?

I wonder if they are ever going to give us a K-pro....

They are kinda non-specific about it.

custom cams?

The TSX has large primary (low lift lobes) on both the intake and exhaust. These lobes are larger than the RSX-S or ITR. This contributes to good low-end torque. The TSX exhaust camshaft also has a larger secondary lobe than the RSX-S or ITR ... The secondary lobe on the intake, however, is smaller than its RSX-S cousin. This makes it a good candidate for replacement

Unfortunately there was a loss in low end torque. This is primarily due to N2's smaller primary VTEC cam lobes than the TSX. However, if your goal is maximum power, this is the way to do it.
So why not get custom cams with the primary VTEC cam lobes of the standard K24 and the secondary cam lobes of the Toda N2 RSX cams? This would give you the best of both worlds, right? Increased low-mid range torque AND more top end power?

regards
Rod

Does the VTC mod require any change to the tuning? Or just grind the cam gear down to size and put it back in?

Otherwise can the Hondata reflash or V-AFC II take care of the necessary tuning?

regards

I bet you could remove it, mod it, then put it back in, and it will do nothing for you, good or bad, without tuning.
