ALARM system

I was thinking of buying a Viper 791 XV alarm system with remote start from ebay for about 170. To install the system, they said that I would have to buy a bypass something to make all the features work. What does this mean and where would i buy this?

you need a bypass for the immobilizer which means you can get a universal one for about $20 and place the valet key inside for it to be able to remote start. it sends signal from the computer chip inside the key to the key cylinder. most new cars require this. or you can by one that's made for honda/acura that doesn't requires a valet key, but it's more expensive.

www.bypasskit.com or ebay

okay but having this bypass on there means that the immobilizer that comes ith the car is pretty much useless... right?

Just be warned of one thing. If you buy a alarm off ebay and get it install at a shop, you might save a little money now but you will pay for it if the alarm goes bad or becomes defective. The shop that install you alarm will not warranty the alarm or labor compare to if you were the get it from them, or even if they did, they will make you pay to remove and reinstall any parts. My suggestion is to go straight to the shop and buy it there, this way parts and labor will be cover for as long as the warranty states.

I know first hand because I bought a Viper alarm off ebay a few years ago and the brain crapped on me. The shop warranty the brain for me but I had to pay to get it removed and reinstall. Just get the alarm direct from the shop, you pay a little more but that warranty will come in handy, especially with the DEI pager remotes, the LCD pagers are know to be crap!
