adding acetone?
I have herd from a friend of mine that he has been adding it to his truck and getting good results. Haa anyone else herd of doing this. You are saposed to add 2 ounces for about evey 16 gallons. I think we should send this into mythbusters and see if they could experiment with it maybe.

I've heard that if you drink three beers with a shot of Jack and then piss in your tank you'll get really clean injectors. I haven't tried it yet because my aim isn't thank good anymore and I'm afraid of hurting my paint job.

I heard driving smarter saves you more MPG than anything else you can get... I believe one of the mods on this forum did a fairly good writeup of how to get great mpg...
I actually joined the 500 mile club a couple weeks ago. I topped my car at 517 mi before my fill up. I forgot to take a damn picture though... I'll try it again on my trip back and forth from Cincinnati to Chicago.

Anyway, in my fast skimming through both the start and end of the article, I didn't see anything mentioned as to the expertise of the author. Anyone can do their research and write up papers, but not everyone can be considered an expert in their field.

well let mw put it this way for all you people that believe adding Acetone will do nothing I don’t no if and you took basic college chem. or not but it vary simple it dose work by increasing the overall octane level in the fuel all so making it easier for the fuel to vaporize the hole thing that puts it in the negative is that acetone will eat rubber and other organic based polymers in fact acetone was used to improve the octane leave for air craft fuel "prop. eng." but if you can get you hands on "Some of the better octane boosters such as aniline, nitro benzine and toluene. Additives like acetone are corrosive if you car use and rubber based fuel delivery system if you use metal your fine. Plus if you ever have had a high presser injector cleaning at an oil shop then you car has been “subjected to acetone” (all so a grate decarbonizes and degreaser) But as all ways the best way to help add miles to the gallon is to have a light foot.

You do realize that acetone is used as a solvent such as nail polish remover. If you really want to talk about boosting your HP output and especially when it comes to aircraft engines you should look into water injection systems. They were used by the U.S. Navy in WWII in rotary engines. And yes, water (H20) can burn. So much for Chemistry class.

oooh yes I no water can burn in fact any substant at a high enough temp can burn even air “and yes I have a link to prove that” but im not going to get in to that you are 100% wrong they did not burn water it was a steam rotary engines if you a can give me some kind of link then I will give you full credit for it but what ever.. read up on steam engines buddy http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steam_engine oh and the engine your thinking of is a HHO engine with is fictional but what ever and I did not say nail polish remover I said acetone the diff. is that nail polish remover has other stuff in it and infact I did list the negative effects of putting it in you engine in my post so don’t bash me unless you have facts
Infact here is a link to a case studied site: http://peswiki.com/index.php/Directo..._Fuel_Additive
Ps: were are your FACTS?…that’s what they do in college they give those hmmm I guess you were right so much for my college…

Acetone mixted with gasoline would not be a very smart idea at all. If you added a polar solute, in this case Acetone, to a polar solvent gasoline, the solution would undergo a numerous amount of chemical reactions such as Diels Alder reactions, and breaking of the hydrogen bonds between the large hindered organic molecules. In essence, you would no longer have gasoline and acetone, but there would be some other type organic compound which would either be extremely explosive or absolutely un-reactive.
