Your top speed?

still plays with cars
Here are speed calculations for my 2006 MT. The gear ratios
are from the 2006 TSX sales literature. Note that the published
ratios are to only three significant figures so accuracy
could be improved by counting gear teeth. But since my tire
measurement is also to three significant figures the calculations
are pretty close. Also note that the speeds are actual, not
indicated - your speedometer and tachometer are not that accurate.
I've separated the three columns with semi-colons because the forum
absorbs spaces and tabs.
gear;gear ratio;speed in mph at 7100 rpm with a 78.1" circumference tire
1;3.27;33.7
2;1.88;56.4
3;1.36;81.1
4;1.03;107
5;0.83;133
6;0.66;167
diff ratio = 4.76

I'm pretty sure you won't hit max in fifth. Sixth won't get you much acceleration though so don't expect much more from it unless you have a 10 mile stretch of road you can drive on. I've made it up to about 130 before and she still felt secure, but ran out of straight road so had to slow down for the turns.

I'm just trying to see how fast anyone went in their tsx. "What's the fastest/top speed you ever driven on your tsx?"
I revved it up on all 6 gears... since it was a open highway. I was going at 135mph for about 2 minutes straight and then let off since i didn't see the needle on the mph wasn't going any higher.
If you've been on 249 in houston late at night, you'll know how open it is. lol
anybody ever hit v-tech in 6th gear without mods?

Let me help you!
There might be other reasons, such as maybe you're at the top of a steep mountain with a trunk full of bar bells. In that case, gravity might help pull your car down faster when you're already at the limit. Or perhaps they think you might want to put on 13-inch rims so that the wheels are spinning faster at each rpm. Or maybe it's aesthetics and they wanted the car to look like it can go faster than it really can. Or maybe they use the speedometer design on multiple models, and the other models can reach that speed? Or maybe the limiter was set low enough that the oem tires won't blow when you try to hit the limiter. The list can go on and on...
Chances are that you won't improve your car's performance enough to warrant it going beyond factory speeds. If you do need to go over 142-145 miles per hour, you're utilizing the wrong type of vehicle (go get a ferrari or something).

last week i took the TSX to the highest i've gone in it, 112 mph because i had a lot of open road. i really hate the OEM rotors in this car! They have to be the worst because when i braked the steering wheel vibrated so violently i felt like i was going to loose control of the steering wheel. I have had them fixed already 2 times before by Acura service. i am thinking of going aftermarket now.

Oliver!!!
I've gotten up just over 90 before passing a semi on a 2 lane road. There was nobody in sight, but once I passed the nose of it, I felt no need to go any faster. That was my first experience with VTec too. Good times.

120 or 130 in mine, very briefly. I can't remember the exact speed. All I remember is that it was quite noisy and the A-spec suspension has really short travel. Doesn't absorb inconsistencies in the road very well at those speeds.
Still, the engine was blender smooth.

What is an open road? Do you not have deer, possums, and armadillos in Texas? At high speed at night, you cannot see where you are going since you are outrunning your highlights. In other words, you could not stop before you hit the barrier if there was an unlit barrier in front of you.

Actually, no there are no deer possums or armadillos in Houston. If 249 is the one I'm thinking of, there's normally nothing on it at night, cept other people playing.

Drifting
An indicated 135, I was in sixth gear and it was still pulling (albeit slowly). It started to feel floaty so I backed off. I wouldn't recommend doing that but it was at 3am in the middle of nowhere.

Wow. It is hard to imagine a road about 8 miles from a major airport in an area with the population density of Houston being free of traffic. You can't find anything like that around Atlanta. And, in western North Carolina, deer are always a looming threat.
