Are your heated seats hot?

I tried it today without wearing my full length topcoat and of course they were plenty warm. Of course now I have a different issue with the car that I'm going to have to talk to the dealer about. When I try to change the settings in the MID it says that I'm not a recognized driver. Innnteresting.

Mine get super hot on high ... i like it, but my passenger usually says its too hot, turn it off. But my passengers' asses are usually pretty hot to start out with.

It was only -4 here this morning, however I find they work perfectly; take 3-4 minutes to reach a perfectly "warm" and comfortable setting. All time record would go to my former SAAB; it could be -20 and you would have a bad case of sac sweat in under five minutes.

I didn't get a bad case of sac sweat, but I did try the seat warmer today and in about 2 - 3 minutes the seats were comfortable and I turned them off shortly there after. I will resist the temptation to see how long it needs to be on before I do get a bad case of sac sweat. :angryfire

they are so hot, that they literally burn you if you leave them on to long.
the low setting is comparable to our high setting.

The engine also tends to heat up to operating temperature really quick because out engines dont operate as warmly as other engines. So naturally it gets up there quicker.
But i was wondering before if they had an issue.

Mine take a few minutes to warm up I guess. I will check this morning in a few hours. I turn them on until I can start to feel them,......at that point I just turn them off cause I know I will get too hot.

Mine worked fine this morning. I turned my seat on high for 3 minutes(that was when I felt I was warm enough), then I put the seat on low. It was a comfortable ride all the way to work. I actually cut it off about 10 miles up the road. So far, so good.

My 2006 TSX seats get warm, but not hot. I noticed that the owners manual claims that the seats cycle on/off so as not to get overheated. This probably accounts for why they dont get as hot as some of the German or US built cars do.

Ya I didn't realize that hot had the cycle. I would feel the seats getting warm then I would feel nothing. They feel fine now that I know what's going on. Not as hot, but it's pretty easy to let that slide. Not that high on my list of priorities.

Perhaps it is because I am warm-blooded, or in other words, run hotter than most folks, but they seem plenty hot to me. I don't turn them on all that often, and when I do, it is on the lower setting typically. Those few times I've used the high setting, I've roasting within 5 or 10 minutes at most ... and have to turn them down.
So, yes, the heated seats are hot.
If they don't seem hot to you, yours might be malfunctioning, or you might just need more external heat to feel comfy. People *do* vary considerably in this aspect.
As a nod towards big science, I will test them tonight with a digital thermometer, and see what level of increase over ambient temps they provide, and then duly report back here for your edification. Unless I read farther in this thread and discover that someone else already done done it. Durn it.
Of course, I forgot to mention that I coated my seats with Sterno, habanero powder, Tiger Balm, and "Essence of Paulina Porizkova". They steamin'

thread revival!
my driver's side used to get piping hot on high, but today i not only noticed that the backlight on the driver's side switch is out, but that it didn't get very warm in my 20 minute drive to work this morning. i guess it's time to visit the dealer to get some warranty work done...

I think I barely use mine actually. The only thing is that my passenger switch has no more light. Then again, I'm pretty sure that's due to a computer being hooked up to it.

My seats are hot whenever I'm sitting in them, and I'm not talkin about the seat warmer!
On a serious note, for myself even on some cold days the "high" mode seems too much, I mostly use the "low" setting.

Make a hole, coming thru!
To answer the Q, in HI mode, my butt gets toasty warm in about 5 or so minutes. In LOW, it takes about 10 minutes. Been using it daily in the AM drive, when it's been down to 30°. According to the manual, in HI, the seat heater(s) cycle off when the seat is warmed, but I have to cut it off when my butt gets quite warm, almost uncomfortably so. Maybe it's defective? Anyone know where the sensor is?

Great revival, and I really miss nagidizy's posts even though some found them annoying . That aside, creating this thread and having these discussions is how I found out the High cycles the the heat and then clicking Low when it's comfortable keeps it where it's at. I definitely missed that part when I first read through my manual. Now that I've moved back to Boston that little point is incredibly helpful.
