You Know Your Sparkplugs are Overdue When...

Your car starts hesitating like it was switching constantly from full retard to full advance.

The car also felt really, really sluggish. I guess what didn't help was that the air filter was filthy as well, so really a bad mix.

So I got them changed, as per the recommended schedule (18$/plug).

And now the car drives fine and smooth, and feels a lot more hearty.

Time for some track testing. I'll get the numbers down this weekend. Watch out for videos.

I made it 107,000 miles on my F-150 before I changed the plugs. I hope this car makes it that far. And at my pace I will be there in 3 years.

Another question .... Do you all not plan to touch the plugs till 100K mi. or will you take them out, gap them, and clean them sometime before that? What did you do ManSauce?

There is no plug wires on the TSX, as each plug has an igntion coil sitting right on top.

Are the plugs easy to remove?

When i was running the icebox I noticed that there seemed to be more carbon accumulating on the exhaust tips which makes me wonder if the plugs are a little dirty already.

Its a piece of cake, if it takes you over an hour to change the plugs on a TSX you should NOT be working on your car. Its a very straight forward job, remove nuts that hold cover on, unbolt coil packs, unplug coils(or just be careful when pulling them out and lay them on there side), then remove the plugs and install new ones and reverse the above steps.

I'm thinking about popping them out to take a look at them. The cover in question is the rectangular, darker one on the rear of the block?

I think it's part of the suggested maintenance. If it is, then it was done at some point.

BTW, I'm now at 178,500km. Which is 111,500 miles in American language.
