Worst car weekend EVER!!!11!one
pfeewww.. for once I have to say i'm glad it's a monday or at least my car is anyway.
Friday night I leave work and as I'm driving down the road I noticed my radio isn't on. So I hit the power button only to realize the music in the background just turned off. Hit the power again, it comes back on and d'oh! I realize i'm the next vicitim of the lights burning out on the deck and climate control system. I was surprisingly not that upset knowing that it's a known warranty issue and I should be able to have it replaced. I just hope it gets done in the next week and a half as I'm supposed to drive on a road trip to san franciso for thanksgiving.
Saturday night, after getting several calls for work related things(being on call sucks) I head some beers with my friends. We decide to have an early night and head back around 1130... as we approach my exit on the freeway I see several cars on the side of the road with hazards on and think to myself "hmmm... must have been an accident". All of the sudden I look up and see the road littered with debris covering the two slowest lanes. Most of the debris was small like splintered wood, but there were some big pieces sitting in both lanes...I dodged a piece left...dodged one right then WHAM left front hits something and I hear the tell tale thump thump of a tire going flat. Get off the freeway as I was at my exit to the scene of total tire carnage. There were a good 12 cars lining both sides of the off ramp changing tires. Weirdest thing i've ever seen. Luckily for me ony one tire went out so i could put the donut on...a bunch of cars had 2 or 3 tires out and were waiting for tow trucks. BTW I must give props to the stock michelins..there was a big gash on the shoulder joint but it held together very well in time for me to slow down and move off the side of the road. I had no wheel shudder at all.
Unfortunately for me most of the big tire chains are closed on Sunday so my tire choices were severly limited..I couldn't really wait to order something and not have my car. Having an odd tire size like acuras can make it a hassle to find replacements in a pinch. After some quick research I decided on just getting a set of 2 falken zx-512s(their best performing all season...it was the best of my options). Drop my car off at like 9 am and am followed in by a handful of tow trucks dropping off cars from the same stretch of road. It took them like 4 hours before I had my car back...what a pain!
I'll write up my impressions of the new tires later... so far they seem stickier than stock, but maybe a little softer. But taht might be because I need to up the airpressure and they are brand new. Also, they only weight 21lbs(in stock size) as opposed to the stock 26 so the sidewall is probably a little softer.
So anyways, what a weekend...glad that it's monday. Time to call service!
PS. better not move this to ramblings.

Wow that sucks! Glad you didn't get hurt and the only damage was the tire. Hopefully your dealer will be able to get that light/warranty issue fixed promptly.
I guess the stock tires did save your rim from getting chewed up, I just wish they had better traction.

I'm at about 55,000km's. So at my rate its up sometime at the end of December. Unless I buy the second car by then and give the TSX a break.
