Talking Woot!!! Approaching hybrid gas mileage

Back up about three weeks. I bought a fuel additive from Target knowing that I've never used anything like that since owning my TSX. My baby currently has ~33,000 miles on it. My mileage wasn't horrible, but I remember when driving it home after first getting it (about a 700 mile trip), we drove just under 80mph and were getting about 33mpg. It seemed like I wasn't getting as good as mileage as I once used to, so I thought it would be worth a try.

Fast forward to tonight. I headed up to Dallas for my college orientation. Drove 60 all the way (I have been driving 60 the past couple of months because of gas prices) and my average mpg was

42.6!!!!

I have NEVER got that kind of mileage. I'm not positive whether or not is was the additive I used a couple of tanks ago, but I just thought I would share. I will post my final average gas mileage once I get home on Tuesday evening.

Now that I think about it, I remember I just recently aired up my tires to 40psi, so that helped as well.

What was the additive?

40psi seems a little high. Are you seeing any wear in the middle of your tires?

^^ that would be my question too. At one time I was running 38psi front / 36psi rear and I noticed a little more wear in the center of the front tire. I've since dropped it down to 36F/34R. Also, if you're on the OEM tires, you need to be careful since the max pressure (per the sidewall) is 41psi. If your 40psi is when the tires are cold you could very well be in excess of 41psi when they heat up.
