Why i'm getting rid of the TSX

As per request by DOMN, our friendly mega moderator here's an explanation as to why i'm getting rid of my TSX.

First off, let me just say that its a great car, I like it a lot, but I REALLY need something faster.

I'm looking into the following cars:

- BMW 330i (w/performance package)
- Audi A4 Quattro 1.8T (yes i know its slower in stock form, but there's a really nice turbo upgrade kit for it, that will put me into the 300whp range, and its not too expensive)
- Acura CL-S (6mt)
- Lancer Evolution VIII

Now before you guys make your comments, one thing that you guys should know about me is that I LOVE modifying cars, I don't think I will ever have a car and keep it stock hehe. So w/the cars I just listed, i've researched their aftermarket support, and am now just trying to decide which one will work best for me.

Again the TSX is a great car, i love everything about it, i just wish it had some more power tho..

Sure I could make it fast, but in the long run i'd spend a lot more money to make it go fast, when I could have spent less money and made another car go even faster, ya kno?

Well anyways, i think that kinda xplains why i'm selling the TSX. I'm gonna go put on my flame suit and get ready for all your responses

BTW, all my parts are for sale!

Thanks Nocturnal.

Hmmm, tough choices. I guess your reffering to a 330 Sedan? If your going with a 330 coupe that gets my vote. An 05 G35 coupe with 300HP would be a good bet for the speed your looking for as well.

Jiggaman: i kinda wanna get away from FWD cars. Even tho I listed the CL-S, in which case I wouldn't mind having a FWD, but i most likely won't really get it cz it is FWD.

Domn: yes i'm referring to the 330i (sedan). An ASA supercharger adds about 100horses to the wheels, so i'd be doing about 290-300whp. The s/c unit itself costs about $7k installed

and as for the G35, i'm not really feelin that interior.

I agree the evo does look like a hotwheels or something, but once you get past that, the car is REAL fun to drive. If I get the car, i most likely will take the spoiler off, and try to make the car a bit more classier, yet still sporty. I'm not really even a fan of mitsubishi, but once again, the evo is a FUN car to drive, and to make more power out of it is very easy.

As for why an EVO and not an STi, my personal preference is that the EVO's bodystyling looks better than the STi's, even tho I do like how the STi looks, i just can't picture myself driving one. Its just not "me", ya kno?

Ok, you want speed, wait for the EVO MR. That should satisfy your speed and handling needs.

I really like the R32, but I dont want a hatchback hehe.

Domn: i didn't know that the interior was updated in the G35, i'll have to look into that. But the exterior styling doesn't jump out at me like the other cars i mentioned do.

As for the Evo MR, thas exactly wat i'm waiting for

I second getting a used E46 M3. If you'll spend a lot of money on mods for a 330, the M3 will still look and perform better.

I drove the Subaru Legacy GT and really liked it. I took it on some turns at 60mph (35 zone) and it didn't flinch.

A friend has an M3 and it's nice on the outside, but inside doesn't come close to the TSX (4-5 yrs old).

Thanks

First of all I would love the 330i but next year BMW will be revamping the 3series so the model looks really outdated.

Second of all Audi is a really nice car but have way too many problems with the car. I have 2 friends that bought the new A4 1.8 and they must of visited the dealer at least 5times. The car is not RELIABLE!!!! They got fed up and traded their car in for the TL and my other buddy traded his in for the WRX STI.
Third the EVO is Freaken fast car because it is so light but the car just looks like a beefed up Civic. Does not add any luxury sport flavor to it at all.
In result here is my suggestion for a potential of a fast luxery car:

1) Acura TL/or New RL

2) Subaru WRX STI-This car is a monster and has potential for going over 400hp..Yikes!!

3) Inifiniti G35Coupe/or Nissan 350Z

4) Mazda RX-8

I would highly recommend the above cars for choice of not having to dish out alot of $$ for good sporty looks and good power band.

What do you guys all thinnk?????

I agree the 330 is pretty wimpy. I drove it and thought nothing of it. Quite boring.

And Audi does suck. I have an A6, and yikes! Stay away!!

I liked the TL, but front drive with lots of hps is not a good combination. Would love to drive the RL... when is that out?

A friend of mine has a 330i with Perf package and I have to say that car is an overachiever, with "only" 235hp. It's got the 6 speed and wheels from the M3, fantastic brakes, moderate interior, and drives very nicely. I think it is quite overpriced though at around $42k+

If you are a modding freak, you may as well get a turbo'ed car .. lots of HP can be pulled from these mills. I'm not a huge fan of the A4 1.8T, but I've got to say you can really put some basic mods into these and make a lot of power, plus you can get them as cheap as $26-28k with modest options. Reliability will almost definitely be an issue. STI and EVO are good platforms as well but probably not as luxury oriented as you'd like. EVO MR =

Personally I'd stay away from a CL-S since it has been discontinued and is front wheel drive.

my bf has a miata that has a flyin' miata turbo kit on it. that car flies! the flyin miata tech guys are the nicest in the world and help him tune it all the time. that's a car that can be modded easily and will go super fast.
that is, if you just want to mod a car to go fast!

If you are trying to stay with the luxury of the TSX, I would go for the G35 coupe....only thing is that the 6MT with the redesigned interior won't be out until Dec.

If you want raw power and handling, no need to look beyond EVO MR

You will find that your moding desires will wane in a few years - you just happened upon the TSX at a too early an age.

I wouldn't wait for the new 3 series as it'll be bangle-ized. Also, the 225 or 235 hp (performance) is fairly underrated.

I think you missed a big one. The S2000. We have one and it is one of the faster cars out there with the best handling! And the best part.... it runs like a Honda!

Domn: hmm.. you're right. Once i make up my mind, i'll have to go place an order ASAP.

EuroStyle: Thanks for posting those links, they REALLY helped, cz I was having a hard time finding some kind of forums for the B6 A4. Do you know of any forums that are directed more towards the B6 A4 performancewise? or show?

Tsxfan23: M3's are too outta my price range, and I dont' want the E36 bodystyle ones.

Slo007: I WAS interested in the Legacy 2.5GT, and even test drove it, but didn't really find it to suit me for some reason, i just wasn't too crazy about it I guess.

MOMOTL: What problems did your friends have w/the Audi's? I am going to research more into those problems As for the other suggestions you mentioned.. The TL and RL are great cars, but I kinda wanna get away from Honda's, my last 2 cars were honda's.
The WRX/STi, again great cars, but i'm not too crazy about their exterior styling. Infiniti G35/350Z, great cars, but again not my choice of styling heh. Mazda RX-8, i dont know what it is, but it doesn't really grab my attention.

Yuhoo22: I need a car sooner than december hehe, but again the G35 styling just isn't what I want.

Biker: you're right.

iamhomin: go test drive one! hehe

MarkPinTx: Yea i'm going to take a hit financially. The TSX is financed, and i still owe some money on it, its been almost 4 months since I've had the car, and i already put nine thousand miles on it. I do a lot of driving, so I think it'd be better to get rid of the car now and take a hit, rather than down the road when the car is paid off, but has like 20thousand miles on it. But the main thing is, i'm just not happy w/the TSX's power. Like I said, i do a lot of driving everyday, which means I spend a lot of time in my car. I want to be happy and satisfied with what i'm driving, ya kno?

Iron chef: There is traffic in long island, but i'm a New Yorker, and you know what they say about NY drivers and they're crazy driving hehe, but the crazy driving is to get from point A to point B in reasonable time, rather than sit through traffic and end up being an hour late to go wherever you need to go. As for tickets, lets see... i've gotten 2 tickets so far, both for parking illegally hehe...

patuww: i need rear seats, thats why the s2k isnt' an option for me.

You should try these following sites for performance related information:

www.18turbo.com
www.20vturbo.com
www.vwvortex.com (check out the technical forum for the 1.8T engine)
www.fourtitude.com (strictly audi)

The later two forums provide valuble information...just remember to search for what you need.

Enjoy.
