When your car goes in for a service......

When your car goes into a garage for a service, do you go and watch? Would this piss off the mechanic? This is my first car and soon I have to go in for the 8000km service.

Thanks

I don't know if we are allowed to enter the garage (dealer). It has to do with some kinda safety regulation.

See other service thread about some of this. You might not want to watch and see what they do to your car.

depends on the garage.

my local dealer are very friendly and often ask me to walk into the garage myself to find one of the mechanic or the workshop manager.

I guess it depends on the shop. I saw this sign posted on the wall of this particular shop which reads...

Labor $45 hr. $65 if you watch. $95 if you help.

When I take the car in for service, I insist on staying in the vehicle while all the work is done. I freely offer helpful advice and commentary at every opportunity. I especially enjoy when the car is up on the hoist, I shout "Wheee! Wheee! Wheee!" as it moves up and down. I'm their favorite customer - I can tell because everyone is smiling when I leave.
