Wheel Upgrades?

Has anyone here gotten any of the wheel upgrades for their TSX? And if so, what happened with the stock ones?

Oh... Did I forget to mention that my wife and I just put down a deposit on an Arctic Blue MT6 with Navi?

We also got the full under body spoiler kit and the alloy wheels. Hence the question about the wheels.

Delivery is supposed to be in late October! Too damned exciting!!!

your new car will look awesome with those upgrades..did you get a wing too?
Not many have gotten wheel upgrades other than the offered ones by Acura. (they look good though)
the offset on the TSX is huge at +55 and not too many wheel makers offer that offset.

BTW, i have heard the upgraded wheels weigh more than the original stock wheels, is this true do you know??
If so, it will hurt performance.
How much are the dealers asking for those rims anyway?

Didn't get the wing... Just the underbody kit and the wheels. We thought about it, but just didn't quite like the way the wing looked.

The weight's a good question. Hadn't even thought about that one! Still, it's not like we're going to be taking the car racing, so a minor perfomance hit won't really matter that much.

The rims clock in at $999.00 though... Not cheap! We did get a break there, though, as my brother works at an auto shop and he's going to do all the installs for us, so we're not paying labor for anything. Saved about $400 off the dealer's price for the underbody spoilers and wheels combined.

But man I can't wait to get my new TSX in! It's gonna be suh-weet!!

Mmmm... Live and learn! I'd've never thought to check eBay for the rims. How do they end up there anyway? <shrug> No matter I guess. Alea Iacta Est!

I checked with my brother and he said he couldn't get the rims, so I figured Acura had a pretty tight hold on things since they used the odd offset.

Honda uses many of the same optional wheels as Acura.
Simply purchase the Honda version cheaper and install the Acura center caps.

Hope this helps.

Hey MrChad,

Just noticed that you're in Ohio (next to soem corn and cows). You know anything about the Mid-Ohio driving school?

Gotta learn how to drive my new TSX the right way! ;-)

Mid-Ohio Sports car course (Lexington, Ohio -- Near columbus/mansfield) is an Amazing Track. American LeMans Series, CART, and SCCA Pro Touring and GT race there often. I love Mid-Ohio. Turn 9 Esses are my favorite part.

The school is about 700bucks per day. You can save money buy using your own car, but I'd rather use their Acura RSX's to thrash. I've been wanting to do the school for some time, just didn't want to do it on my own.

They do allow open track days for large groups. I asked about it once, but little interest was created so I quite asking.

John:
I've seen a set of stock TSX rims and tires go on Ebay for almost $1K. That could just about pay for your upgrade.

You DO get to keep your originals, right?

That's what I'm thinking about doing. They're classy enough to be in demand. Shipping's a bitch though. I'd almost have to crate them.

Still Rims and Tires should go for approx. $750 from what I've seen (unless they are brand new, then closer to $1K). My little upgrade package would be close to double that.

In reply to captainjack,

Yes. We do "get" to keep the old rims. The dealer's looking into what they'd be willing to pay for them, but I'm thinking that we'll almost certainly put them up on eBay or else see if my brother can use/sell them...

Thanks again for all the feedback.

Vale,

JohnS
