What's Your Cold Engine Idle Speed?

When I start my '05 AT TSX in the morning, my engine idles at about 1.5k RPM. Once it warms up, it's closer to .5k RPM (even after subsequent starts).

Is my cold-start idle speed normal? It seems a little high to me based on my experience with other vehicles. It's also quite "jumpy" at 1.5k RPM as when I put it in drive or reverse, it tends to surge quite a bit once I release the brake.

Mine starts at around 1.2K to 1.4K RPM in the morning and then settles in at 0.6K to 0.7K when warm.

The cold start idle speed is supposed to be higher. The engine is attempting to warm up the catalytic converter to minimize emissions.

And mine usually starts around 1400 rpm too.

mine does the exact same thing. however, i let it warm up to about 1.2k or 1.25k. after that i don't experience any of the surging.

rev should start out higher when car is cold in the morning. its designe that way to get the junk out of ur engine.. car system and warm up the car faster. i read a report years back about what it does. Its just like how BIMMER rev higher than other make/model for faster warm up...
