Wow, less than 3000 TSX's left for the year. Anyone heard about next year. Is there another 15,000 in production for next year.
With only 3000 left, and not many sightings in S. CAL, it appears that spotting one here will still be a rarity. Sounds good to me as it maintains its uniqueness at least until next year.

15,000 units were for a 9 month period since this car was not introduced till April. And even that amount were only an estimate by Honda. Since the car is selling well given the units available there should be no doubt we will see 15,000+ units for yr 2003. Im already showing vins in the mid 12,000 range.

According to my dealer, the TSX's VIN serial number does not indicate the number of TSX's produced.
On the same production line, some cars produced are TSX's, and some are Accords for the European and Asian-Pacific markets.
Apparently, for the sake of example, the VIN serial 12330 might be a US-market TSX, but VIN serial 12331 could be JDM, Oz market, or European market Accord.
According to my dealer, Acura (Honda) "intends to build a little over 15,000 TSX's for the calender year, which means by December 31st 2003, there will have been over 15,000 produced."
Does that mean that in the calendar year 2004, that Honda will continue producing 2004 model year TSX's??? That I don't know.

The dealer gave me the build date when I placed my deposit. They had already requested the car be built for them and I just happened to be the first person to put a deposit on it so that is why they knew the build date when I placed the deposit. I would call the dealer and ask if they have the build date.

fanman,
Can you check your navigation software version number!? Once you have the navigation active (on a map, a menu, past the main screen/warning) - press the "Setup" button and go to screen #4. It will list version information. I'm curious if there's a newer version than mine, which is 1.003. My car was built 1 month before yours, so I doubt it, but I really like to be on top of software updates.
If you want to get even more in-depth versioning infomation, once you pass the main warning screen, press (and hold) the following 3 buttons: Map/Guide+Menu+Cancel for about 2-3 seconds. You will get a Diagnostic menu. Press the "Version" touch-screen button. You will get some extra info. Feel free to report that info - I'd sure appreciate it.
http://www.acura-tsx.com/forums/show...ght=diagnostic
is a thread that lists all the features of the hidden Diagnostic menu - be careful with some of the options, like "Tire Calibrate". I don't recommend changing anything with settings, unless you're sure you know what you're doing.
Thanks and best of luck with your new TSX - you will *love* it! Break her in easy!

If you go to www.acuraofbellevue.com, click on New Inventory -> TSX Automatic Premium, you'll see a car on the lot that is #14771 (which has been there for at least 1 week). Which means that they will break 15k on the next shipment, which could be in a few days.
So it's almost safe to say that the 15,000 was a SALES ESTIMATE and all the people that said 15k was the limit for 2004 were full of crap. Do you really think that acura would purposely halt sales for 1/5 of the year? I guess we'll find out in a week!
Update: Here's #14846

I was told by my salesperson that the VIN serial doesn't exclusively refer to only TSX's. The very same production line alternately makes JDM and Euro Accords.
I'm not sure, therefore, the a serial of 14846 means that 14,846 TSX's have been made.

Aren't there something like 3,000 TSX's being imported into Canada? Are the Canadian VINs similarly restricted to the low thousands? That might explain a correlation. Sorry, I don't mean to spread misinformation.

Canada was alotted something like 4,000 TSXs for the year. Rumour has it that they are not selling well here in Canada, which is odd considering how popular mid-size sedans are up here...

Talk about Canadian Acuras, I saw a car rarer than the TSX (in the US anyway) on southbound 880 in Oakland, California. It looked like a shrunken up Accord from the rear. I think it was the Canadian Acura EL. It was ahead of me, so I saw only its rear, which has that cantelever (sorry, sometimes I cannot spell well!) rear light assembly of previous generation Accord sedans. It had California plates. On occasion I also see Canada-only cars, like the Russian Lada, or some Canadian GM makes (Beaumont? Starfire?) around Stanford Univ. There's even an Oz Ford Falcon Fairmont (RHD) about a half mile away from where I live. (It's somewhat like the Falcon in the Gibson film "Mad Max".) Ooooops. VIN's, VIN's, VIN's. VIN's!
I heard that the US Acura warranty is good in both the US and Canada, but not Mexico. Shucks, I'm still off-topic. Oh Well! I better bow out of this topic for now.
