what other cars did you consider before buying the TSX?
I have decided that I am buying my TSX. however. i was wondering what other cars did you guys look at before buying the tsx and what was the convincing factors(s) that made you buy it over others?
I was looking at the Volvo S40 ...but later thought that there was too many reasons for buying the TSX like it's looks, its spaciousness, reliability..even though it costs more than the Volvo S40 ..though they are comparable in price..

You've chosen wisely.
First what I came from: 01 Saab 9-5 V6 turbo which liked to visit the shop
In the $27k price range I looked at:
new Maxima (too big and iffy on the Renualt inspired styled odd lines)
used '04 TL (also felt too big but was a contender)
used '03 IS300 (interior wasn't sophisticated and no trunk space)
new Madza 6 (felt like a step down in class and sure looked like a Ford V6)
new Subaru Outback (too pricy) or Legacy
Because of the problems I had with the Saab, which is considered one of the more reliable euro imports, I wanted to go back to a reliable Japanese car. As you said "looks, its spaciousness, reliability" were also my main factors -- but I'd also add price.

What I had before:
1998 Acura Integra Auto LS
What I looked into getting:
Infiniti G35 Coupe (New or used)
Infiniti G35 Sedan (New or Used)
Acura RSX (New)
Acura RSX-S (New)
Acura TSX (New)
Acura TL (New)
Nissan 350Z (New or Used)
Nissan 350Z Roadster (Used)
Ferrari F430 Spyder (In my dreams)
Very happy that I went with the TSX. You get so much car for the money and it looks great modified!

I haven't gotten the TSX yet, but I was considering the Subaru Legacy GT Limited and the GTO. Now I have to decide if I want to wait until November/December for the '06 or get an '05.

Accord EX-L new
Accord EX V6 new
Audi A4 1.8T Quattro pre-owned
Audi S4 pre-owned
I went for the TSX, not because others were lacking, but because the TSX best corresponded to my needs. Actually, the Audi went out of my plans pretty early because of their lack of reliability.

Acura TL
Toyota 4Runner Sport
Acura TSX
Honda Accord EX V6 w/navi.
Acura TL was great, but felt too big and I just couldn't justify spending over $33K on a car at that time. Higher cost to insure.
I liked the 4Runner alot on the test drive but obviously lacked a lot in terms of luxury features like the TSX. Plus, I already owned an SUV.
The Honda Accord Coupe w/Navi represented the best value. But, exterior styling was so so and the interior was outdated (still looked like my old '89 Accord). The insurance cost was also high as it was considered a "high performance" car because of its engine.
I ultimately chose the TSX because it gave me everything I was looking for in terms of performance, style, luxury amenities, reasonable price and I like the fact its made in Japan.

Mini Cooper S
Accord V6
Saab 9-3
Acura TL
Used 540
Used E36 M3 4dr
Came from Integra LS 4dr 5MT which I still have for fun.
The TSX had the best of all worlds- tightly built, reliable, handles great, great interior, subtle but handsome exterior, and above all, a good value.

I went to my Local Infiniti Dealer and they are blowing out 5 Sedans BASE models which is still pretty loaded if you ask me (Just no moon roof, auto off head lights, basically the Premium Package etc..) for $27,800..which is on par with the TSX NAV..Something to consider I guess.

G35 Sedan (Used, with around 10-15,000 miles)
TL (Used or New)
Altima SE-R (New, had a kick butt price of 26,800 before ttl if I purchased it)
Mercedes C230 Kompressor (new or used, everyone has one now though)
I really did like the Altima, but with the way I drive and all the driving I do for work I new I would get some crappy gas mileage.
I really liked the TL too, but I couldn't see spending that much more money for a car I didn't like that much better than the TSX.
I was really close on pulling the trigger on the Mercedes, but it was a little more than I wanted to spend compared to the TSX. Plus, it didnt have navi and that was a huge selling point to me.

2006 VW Jetta TDI
2005 Infiniti G35
2005 Nissan Altima
The Jetta drove nice, but the steering was too stiff for me... I don't need a workout while i'm driving. The seats were also rock hard for leather seats. The back of the car looked like a damn Corolla.
The G35 was just outta my price range.
The Nissan Altima is nice, but waaaaaaay too many people drive them where I live, and a few of my friends have them too.
I would've looked at Toyota's but their too family oriented and I don't like the way they drive. I'm not a huge Lexus fan either, cuz of Toyota. I would've look at Mazda, but their in bed with Ford. North American car companies were outta the question for me.

That's odd, cuz when I test drove it a few month ago, I drove the Jetta first and then the TSX 10 min later. The Jetta seemed stiff to me... but you gotta agree that the seats are stiffer on the Jetta. I feel more comfortable in the TSX.

BMW 335
Audi A4
But then, how can you go wrong with the Acura (other than the stupid clutch noise) especially for me, I had such a great time with the Integra for 8 years.

I dun think Volvo is a car, it should category as a TANK.... heavy & slow response, very very boring to drive.

TSX was a darkhorse candidate for me right up to the week I decided to buy it. Wanted one of the new Suby Legacy wagons--seemed like the total package-verstility, cargo room, AWD and the 250hp thrill factor. Test drove a couple of the sedans (the wagons never did appear around here at the time I needed a car) and loved the ride but not some of the cheesier aspects of the interior. Since the wagon never showed up on a local lot, I had ample opportunity to test drive (3X) the TSX, and then never looked back. Now I am glad I am not dealing with the turbo issues and poorer MPG numbers. Couldn't have gotten the leather or moon-roof either for the TSX price. And realize that AWD isn't that big a deal in Joisey, and probably won't be buying all those over-sized items I didn't really need anyway. Sometimes things just work out right.

I was actually looking at the 7th gen accord in coupe or sedan form, but when I saw the price of the Honda Accord is just about the same as an Acura TSX or 03 TL, I just thought gosh I can get a more luxury name "Acura", better warranty, roadside assistance, and not as common as an Accord for the same price.

The new ones have BMW and Cadi price tags but Toyota's exterior style and Kia's interior. OH NO
God bless the folks at Acura!

I recently had the opportunity to test drive the TSX 6MT and was impressed. I was at the Acura dealership to take delivery of my wife's 2005 MDX and used the occasion to test drive the TSX. The clutch is very light compared to my current car and I was pleasantly surprised with the power available from the I-4. Needless to say, I like it.
