What is that lid on 5AT?

Quick question.. there is a tiny lid next to the "park" symbol on a 5AT tsx. What is that for? It is called the "54716-SEC-A81 LID, ESCUTCHEON" on acuraparts247.com

With the optional "key" inserted into it, the TSX becomes 4WD + 40 HP

Well I haven't seen it myself but an "escutcheon" is a protective cover for something.

This is the "Shift Lock Release". This allows you to move the shift lever out of Park if the normal method of pushing on the brake pedal doesn't work. This is also used for the Reverse lockout.

The reason I asked is because when I got my car back from the body shop on friday, I noticed that the lid was all scratched to hell. I was wondering why the hell would they be messing with that part? How is it removed by the way.. The stratch looks so bad that I ordered another lid.
