The Week Of Scratches...

So, apparently the universe is p*ssed off at me...and decided to take it out on my Milano Red TSX's hood!

I've got a nice group of scratches that appears to be made by a cat (the scratches are all grouped close together) - they are through the paint to the clear coat (they appear white). And I've also got a LOOOOOOOONG scratch that runs width-wise across the hood almost 1/3rd of the way across!

That one came Friday night while I was at the bar...I came out and noticed what looked like someone had run their hand across my hood (there was also something spilled on the hood) along with a hand print. I really didn't think anything of it, but thought I should go wash the car to get the spilled crap off the hood. While I was washing the hood, I noticed the scratch.

Now, I have to say this isn't a deep scratch at all...it's not even through to the clear-coat; do you think that the dealer will be able to buff out the scratch? Or - combined with the 100,000 stone chips and other scratches on my hood - should I just look at getting the hood re-painted? Any idea on what that would cost me?

Thoughts? Ideas? Suggestions?

People SUCK!

No need to repaint - a machine like a Porter Cable and some good polish should be able to help you out a lot. If you're not comfortable with doing it yourself, then see if there are any professional detailers in your area who can take it out. Ask lots of questions to see if they know what they're talking about, ask what products they use, etc. You might want to read up on this stuff yourself before you go to the detailer. www.autopia.org is a good site that discusses all this stuff. Good luck!

hey,
yes i feel your pain, over the weekend took a road trip to tampa and now theres a chip and a tiny dent on the hood. right about the silver strip, its very tiny but its down to the metal, very very pissed

thinking of maybe getting match paint, but i put on some clear coat nail polish i had in my hand from puttin it on the rim i scratched (this has been a bad week for my tsx too)

im sure a good buffing would get the scratches out, as long as its not down past the clear coat u shouldnt havy and problem
