You were being very vague.

If you were crusing at 40 mile per hour in 6th gear, and suddenly felt the urge for speed and floored the accelerator, there would hardly be any acceleration because of the RPM and the gear the car was in. But if you first downshift to 4th gear or 3rd gear at the same speed and then floor it, VTEC would response.

We don't have the traditional vtec in our cars, we have i-vtec. The kick is not as pronounced, it is there, but you don't feel it like you would in a prelude or integra

Easiest way to tell if you are hitting VTEC is to go from 2000 - redline in 2nd gear... at 6000rpm you will likely hear a SLIGHT change in noise from the engine... you probably won't feel much at all but the noise should at least be noticeable.

Aside from just the noise, I do notice a quickening of the tach climb, and it feels like it's closer to 5200 for me. In 2nd, the amount of time between VTEC and rev limit goes by really, really fast. I am getting old too -- just about everything goes by fast :-/

Also, if you have the stock intake system you will barely, if at all, notice the i-VTEC kick in at 6000RPM (5000RPM w/ HONDATA).

If you really want to feel/hear i-VTEC on the TSX, get an aftermarket intake system.

Can it be felt with the comptech icebox intake?

I can't get CAI because the flooding where I live in ridiculous. The streets get flooded so damn easily here and i'm forced to drive through pretty deep water.
