Note that the stock tires may be crappy to you, but they do perform rather well in wet conditions. I mean they can't be bad all around!

I had an experience in the TSX that has made me appreciated VSA a great deal. It is indeed a life saver in the rain.

Curious, did you see the VSA light come on when you were accelerating from a stop? I thought it only engages when the lights come on.

I feel like my tires still spin alot on wet roads when launching from a stop at relatively low RPMs. Then, when the VSA/TC light on the dash comes on, it doesn't really feel to me like it's doing anything. Never driven a car with VSA before so I don't know what to expect. Don't know if something is wrong with it or that is just how it is. When it comes on, things don't feel too smooth to me, and aside from the light, it's not like I can feel something correcting the situation.

Hmm .. to think about it .. my vsa light didn't come on. but doenst the vsa is always on so it might control the wheel spin with out letting us know especially something that isn't life endangering. Like having a drivers ed teacher pressing on the brake while you're accellerating hard. i know for sure that the way i accelerated will cuase wheel spin on wet surface if vsa was off.

The light won't always come on.

I read somewhere (MSNBC.com?) that the IHSA did a study that showed that cars with VSA performed better in certain kinds of crashes....I wonder if they will start giving insurance breaks for cars with VSA?

a friend pointed out the other day that the stock tires don't really hold the road well over railroad crossings in the wet. I notice it a lot more now, you can really feel the car slipping through a railroad crossing. anyone else have this issue?

not to be an :killer:, but if you accelerate that hard where you are afraid to spin tires in the rain, chances are you are giving too much throttle.

be careful.

yeah, i've learned how much to give it in certain situations, but even sometimes when i put care into the throttle manipulation, i get tire spin. Might just be the crappiness of the tire, i guess.

THe light comes on in mine when I accelerate from a stand still on a slightly damp road. Usually comes on with 3/4 throttle and when it passes 4500rpm

I was curiuos to see how much the VSA controlled wheelspin in the rain, so I switched it off. Third gear, 40mph or so, I matted it and the tire broke loose! Switching it back on, tried the same test; nothing but decent accelleration. Slowed down a little and tried 2nd gear; same thing.

I'm pretty impressed at how hard it can accellerate with no wheel spin. Other cars I've driven bog pretty hard under those same conditions......

As of late, the weather here in Ohio has been like that of the Pacific Northwest, and I have noticed the difference in wheel spin/hop from my last car in wet conditions. How much does it help in the snow?

It's very helpful once you're moving and trying to turn, etc. (stability control). It's less so when you're trying to start from a stop b/c all it does in the traction control case is cut power. That doesn't help all the time when the goal is to get moving. If this happens, just turn the VSA off and use a bit of wheelspin. Don't forget to turn it back on!
