The only time you need to turn it off is if you are stuck on a sheet of ice. It also helps to turn it off if you are doing a hard launch and you need a little tirespin. Otherwise keep it on.

I feel the need...
I'm still not convinced that VSA is better than a driver who knows how to handle the elements and understands the law of physics. Much like the rest of the Midwest and Northeast these past two days - we got dumped on.
A couple of notes about VSA with the TSX:
As VSA is tied into TCS - I noticed a few times that as I turned into medians (snow about 6-12 inches deep) where the snow wasn't plowed very well - my VSA/TCS definitely cut power too much. Not as bad as my previous Millenia, but still a minor irritation. A couple of times I had to turn it off to generate enough necessary wheel spin to get the car moving again.
Another thing: when VSA is active, does your's make a sound like the CV joints are grinding? Very disconcerting.
Overall - still happy with the way the TSX handles snow, even without steelies and Blizzaks.
BTW - my wife's CRV handles the inclement weather with aplomb - highly recommended.

Well VSA uses your ABS along with throttle control to limit wheelspin.

just leave vsa on for most of the time...
its designed to give maximum traction available, but i guess it cant fit every situation.
I live in calgary, where we get a hell of snow..and i admitt vsa saves the day in a lot of slippery situations.
tcs works kinda like abs, the sound u hear isn't abs...tcs works similar to how abs works ...the pulse theory, your wheel spins 1/7 of a rotation through to grip maximum traction i guess.
i noticed that vsa doesn't do anything when im like exactly 90 degrees sideways...that kinda sucks...but its good most of the time.
I have a set of steelies with winter toyo g02's which is just awesome, except once i was completely stuck on pure ice, but starting on second gear helps.

She said: it's GINORMOUS!
i think that sound is also ABS. i was tossing it around in 6-7" yesterday and when i saw the VSA light on, and go tap the brakes ABS was already pulsing

VSA is the greatest thing ever!! I had a non-VSA Accord EX and this VSA is fantastic, even better then the VSA on my sister's 02' V6EX Accord.
And the noise you hear and feel from the VSA is the ABS. You think it's bad on a Honda, own a GM product.

In the snow on inclines I turn off VSA to make sure it doesn't cut power while i'm trying to gain momentum from a stop.
In day to day driving it is always on. Unless I plan on going WOT from a stop and don't want it cutting power when my tires break loose around 5000 rpm.
