Valentine-1, Part II, Hard Wiring: the "A" pillar

Second thread I've started on this topic. Apologies but I've run into a glitch....

On my other cars, I have my main V-1 unit tucked into the pocket of a "visor organizer" on the passenger's sunvisor, and the V-1 remote display located in the console.

This makes the detector invisible from outside the car. To connect the main unit to the remote display, I've run cord down the "A" pillar, under the glovebox and into the console. For the power source I've tapped into the power from the cigar lighter, it's "on" and "off" with the ignition.

I've never done this on a car with side curtain airbags, which go as far as the upper part of the "A" pillar. Now, I've taken the cover off the "A" pillar the entire top 1/3 seems to be completely filled up with the side curtain airbag!

Has anyone else tried to run wires up the "A" pillar yet? I've not deployed the airbag (yet) and I'd rather not, certainly not if it's going to turn the V-1 into a projectile if it does deploy!

At this point I'm ready to just tap into the overhead light console for power and sacrifice the remote display. There's such a nice little cubbyhole in the center console next to the power socket, seems a shame not to use it! I'm trying to find out if there is any possible way to run the wire out of the way of the airbag and also how to fish it from the lower part of the pilar into the dash.

Any help to keep me from breaking (more) stuff appreciated!

The head airbags go in a continuous arc from the upper 1/3 of the "A" pillar, over the doors and end about 1/3 down the "C" pillar. So crossing over the trajectory of the airbag deployment could cause a problem. That seam between the headliner and the "A" pillar is definitely right over the airbag.
