Used TSX

I will be in the marker for a car in the next few months. I owned a GSR in the past...I loved that car....some miserable bastard stole and stripped it :sqntfawk:
Anyway. I want something sporty but with class. The TSX fits that.
My problem is that I will probably want to by a used (1-2yr old) car. Keeping the price in the $20K or less range. I have started considering used is300 sine I can get them at that price (if i look hard). What are the chances of getting a used TSX for around $20K if I wait until early next year?

Probably pretty good if you wait till about feb next year, because you will have 2005's on the road which means the value of the 2004's will dip a bit, plus there will be early 2004's available so I think a 20-21k used tsx in about 7-8 mos would be realistic.

I'd have to check, but I can probably make it at 20K, if you're interested in buying in Canada.

Canada may be a bit far....but I appreciate the offer.
What about the IS300....is it worth me looking into. It would be cheaper since I can find an '02 or '03.
I don't know if I am giving up to munch just to save a few bucks. I am a big acura fan, and the is300 does seem a little "rice"

another thing to note if you get into an IS300, it will be more dated when the the new IS's come out, but going with the TSX you will see this body style for quite a while, not sure if that matters, but worth taking into consideration.

Damn that sucks about the GSR. Was it modified? I got my type R stolen in 2003 bought a new RSX, then trade it in for a new TSX in 1/2004, and as of last week trade it in for an Audi A4. The Audi is a much more fun ride. Good luck in whatever you get. IS300 is cool. Resell value is good.

I actually saw a few certified used TSXs at a dealer about three months ago... with around 13~15k miles, they are asking for 25,500 here in Colorado.

I would wait till next year.

Junkster, who is also contemplating a used TSX in about a year or year and a half

The plus for the IS is that all of the bugs have been worked out of it, but it's smaller and like others have said about to be replaced with a new design. The first TSXs to reach down to $20K will be less desireable ones - high milage ones. You could probably get one now from someone that put something like 100K miles on one - probably not what you want.

I had a 95 GSR and it was tastefully modified. Intake, exhaust, eibachs with adjustable shocks.

How much smaller is the is300? I am a fairly big (not fat) guy 6'2' 225lb. I was getting kinda big for the GSR.
I wouldn't want a TSX with 100K. I think I can get a 2002 IS300 with about halfas many miles for less than $20K.
that might be the way to go, but I just keep feeling that the car looks too "ricey" compared to the TSX.

only one i know on this forum that might have 100k (miles) right now is sauceman

7 months from now should be a good time to get a used tsx for about 20k.

first year of production for a car is never a good time to buy in my opinion. you'll have better luck finding a used IS300 for the price range you want than a used TSX

Does the production year really matter in this case, since the TSX has been in production overseas for a few years?

It might, the earlier TSX vins were built about 6 months only after the Euros had started, so that's not much of a heads up time to correct the initial gremlins that could have occured.
