TSX wannabe

TSX wannabe
I currently own a Subaru 05 Legacy GT Limited. I love the car, but I just had to pull into the local Acura dealer--big mistake. They have a black(not my favorite color) 06 TSX 6 speed shift with Nav. It has 26 miles and is about 3 G's lower than an 07. I sat in it, and am now suffering from new car nirvana syndrome. Should I go for it, or get an 07 in a color I really like. Are there any signigficant differences between the 06 and 07? Also, how are TSX's in the snow? And how does the automatic compare to the stick?
Thanks,
Rich

Welcome to AZ Rich that's my name too heh
The TSX is a good choice, The only difference from the '06 to '07 is TPMS-tire pressure monitoring system, Everything else is the same. I'd say get the MT i regret getting AT myself, but i really wanted it fast so i went for the AT instead of the MT.

welcome to the forum
06 and 07 are mostly the same model, except the tire pressure monitor system, which would be USELESS when u replace your OEM wheels to aftermarket rim/tires.
so, go for 06 model, u won't regret.
it works very well in snow. the ABS comes on rather frequently, but it doesn't bother me at all: nothing wrong with it, it's rather sensitive than other vehicle's ABS, and it is doing its work!

Is color important to you? Black really gets dirty fast; I think you have to really like it.
If you don't mind black...... 3000 dollars is a lot of money!
Did you drive it? Isn't the GT more powerful? I drove an 06 GT - oh la la, that thing is powerful, and I was testing an automatic.
This is how I ended up with a TSX. Stepped into a showroom --> drove the car --> That was the beginning of the end for the car I had just bought.

Thanks for the quick replies, looks like I should go for the MT. Hey, there's nothing wrong with my Suby, but the tsx is definitely a prettier car, inside and out. My only reservation is sacrificing the AWD. That I will miss. Of couse I will have to test drive one first--maybe tomorrow, since I'm off this week.

I just goggled the 05 Legacy GT Limited.
250 hp and 250 lb-ft of torque
Oh, la la, I think you're going to find the TSX less powerful....
Although it doesn't have AWD, the TSX has Vehicle Stability Assist with Traction Control (that the Legacy doesn't). I believe it's also cheaper on gas. (no AWD).
I must admit though, I am superficial. I looooove the TSX's interior and exterior. I just smile everytime I sit in the cockpit, looking at the beautiful instrument gauges, central console, etc. It's a part of my joy owning the car....

We actually own both (2006 TSX is "my car' and 2006 GT limited is the "family car"). It is very hard to pick a favorite between the two. The TSX is a little bit better at almost everything except power, and I would say handling is a tie. My suburban driving rarely allows me to use the extra power, so I lean more towards the TSX.

A 6.2% drop in weight may not necessarily offset the 32% drop in torque. That's a huge loss in power.
However, the TSX design is certainly way more than 25.8% better than that of the GT.

i have an auto and i think its okay. sure manual would have been better but with the traffic i deal with, i sort of got tired shifting every second in traffic. overall, i am pleased with the auto and wouldn't change a thing.

TSX worked real well.
For winter driving, IMO, the combination of (1) ABS, (2) traction control and (3) stability control can only be beaten (barely) by an AWD that has all three.
The stock Michelins don't work very well in the snow though. Consider a set of Blizzaks or Yokohama Iceguards. Nice ride and low noise on dry roads, but miraculous on ice or snow. They lose their edge quickly though - Two winters for me.

You'll definitely feel the difference in power, but the TSX will be more fun to drive, looks better, and has a better interior/features.
Yup, walking into the dealership is the beginning of the end for your Subaru. Next, you'll test drive it, and then it's over! I test drove the TSX before the Volvo S40, Accord, Jetta and Legacy, and they just could not compare with the balance of luxury and handling the TSX offers. Sure, the Legacy is more powerful, but I didn't like the way it handled... then again, if I had tested the Spec.B...

When I saw your thread title, I thought you saw a car that wasn't a Honda or Acura and badged it a "TSX"
I remember someone had a thread and picture of a Toyota or Hyundai and rebadged it a TSX, last yr on here no joke!

I have a black '02 TL-S and I hate the fact that it is black. My '05 TSX is Pearl White and I absolutely love it. $3k is a lot of money but if I could do it again I would have paid a little more for a color that I like. The heat here in Vegas makes me regret getting black every single summer. I have an automatic and sometimes wish that I had the manual but when I get stuck in a traffic jam I am soooooo glad that I got the auto.
