Tsx vs. Tl
Test drove a 2005 Acura TL. Car seemed nice enough, but not as solid over the bumps as I had hoped.
I hadn't even considered the Tsx, however I couldn't help but admire the build quality in the showroom. The Tsx seemed quote roomy and much more solidly built than the TL. How is the Tsx ride compared to the TL? Is the NAVI the same in both the Tsx and TL? What is the advantage of the TL over the Tsx?

Got to ask, are you really 86 years old?
And yes, same Navi but the TL has some additional voice commands to accomidate for bluetooth and XM.

Guys, come on.. give him a break... He's just asking for your opinion..
I test drove TL this evening as well and I seriously have a dillema now. My family wants me to get a TL and said they'll contribute about 3 grand to make up the difference... Now, as much as I love the TSX, I can't ignore this offer..
I don't really want to ask you which would you prefer, as something like this probably had been asked numerous times, but sharing my story with you all..

She said: it's GINORMOUS!
TSX: more nimble, better handling, curves makes you grin and smile
TL: more power, not better handling, straights makes you smile
both come with shitty tires; feature wise, do a search for comparison

Well, I didn't buy the TL because:
1. It's more expensive (not a big deal for you).
2. No folding rear seats: that was reason enough for me to drop it.
3. Higher fuel consumption.
4. 200 hp is enough for me, is it enough for you?
5. I wanted a small sporty sedan, the TL is and feels bigger.
6. I liked the interior of the TSX better, the layout of the trim, the sunglass holder, it just seemed to fit my taste better.
7. Last but no least, I really prefer the styling of the TSX.
I think when you're paying extra for the TL what you're mostly getting is the much bigger engine and giving up a bit of handling, you just have to ask if you want that or not.

Its all a matter of taste. I went out to buy a TL, and instead went away with a TSX. This is my opinoin:
The TSX is a more balanced car, and some (including myself) think its handling is better. The TL has more horsepower, but with that horsepower comes more torque steer (that pulling on the steering wheel you get with front wheel drive cars with high HP when doing tight turns at high speed). I also think you get a better "feel for the road" with the TSX, as well as more of a sense of where the car is in terms of its limits. The TL, to me, felt a bit numb in the above regards. The trade off is that the TL has a softer ride and is a bit quieter.

, tsx is known to be nimbler, and although 70 less hp, pulls third the time as a TL in 0-60. TL is about 14.9 6MT 0-60 and TSX is about 5.6 0-60 5AT.
I kid you not.

I've been through the Honda- Anna Engine plant (Ohio) and other's like it.
It is simply the most amazing attention to detail I've ever seen In building an engine. I don't know how a type-R could be better?
My visits were not group tours; my visits were on company business.
So I was behind the scene in great detail.
I've actually taken apart components on both US and Japanesse made Accords of the same models-years. And often times I find the US components to be better made IMO. I wouldn't let build of origin be the factor in my Honda-Acura purchase.
If anything I find some below the surface components (in the dash) to rust more quickly on the Japanesse mfg. pieces. I'm not sure if this is steel origin related or the trip in the contianer ship over salt water. But in any case Ohio built is not a bad thing. If anything I've seen a higher number of Japanesse recalls in the media vs. USDM.

Not an Ashtray
I think the perceived quality difference in the TSX and TL is a bit of nonsense, to be honest. I've not seen one whit of evidence that Honda products built in the states are any less reliable than Honda products built in Japan. My last two cars were Accords - one built in Ohio, and one built in Japan. They were both very reliable, very well built cars.

After getting 416 miles on a tank and only taking 15 gallons to fill, I am glad I got the TSX over the TL especially when gas is about 2.30 for premium

But, it's 29 mpg for both 6MT TSX and TL.

Theres a reason why Acura choose how to name their cars.
I agree TSX is a much sportier ride, with harder double wishbone suspensions, and it rides a touch lower than the TL.
I think the features says it all. a 3 spoke steering wheel vs the 4 spoke?
The deeper pocketed seats?
The name says it all too I mean..*SX...(rsx, tsx, nsx), its just the name Acura uses for its platform
Vs (tl, cl, rl)...you get the idea.

Not so: The RSX's platform is NOT the same as a TSX's, it has the same base as a Civic's.
The TSX's and RSX's platforms are NOT the same as that of an NSX, as a Mid-Rear engine layout obviously needs very very different specifications as that of an FWD.

It has nothing to do with the platform.
