TSX vs Legacy GT

if you had to do it all over again which one you pick??? Legacy is not as luxury as the TSX and has less features. but its awd and got turbo. I like the looks of both cars and the price range is the same. its really hard to choose between these 2 cars. post your opinions. thanks

I found the engine a little rough for my liking and didn't like the fuel economy, otherwise it was alright.

I don't see the point of asking this here...I'll sum it up for you. 99% of everyone is going to say they would have still gone with the TSX. 1% is going to say they would have gotten the Legacy for the speed.

The Legacy GT was slightly too big of a car for my tastes. It does look hot, though. Here is an unhelpful article from "Road and Track:"

No navi option, you have to pay extra for the GT to get leather seats. Sure the engine is more powerful, but as most people here would agree, that alone doesn't make for a great car. AWD isn't as much of a necessity as its made out to be. Besides, I could easily have gotten the non-navi 270-hp TL for just a little more. The TSX is just a better combination of virtues.

I loved the Legacy. It came down to the interiors for me. I know people might flame me but I thought the handleing of the Legacy GT was great, maybe not 100% comparable to the TSX but close enough. The power was nice as was the 4WD and the price. The inside of the Legacy wasn't even close to the TSX though, I love the feel of sitting in the TSX whereas I didn't get the same feeling with the Legacy. My

Closing the door of the GT sounds like your hitting the side of an aluminum can

I was stuck with this decision. I still long for the Legacy, but I'm glad I bought the TSX. Here are the reasons why:

1) I would never buy the First run of a newly redesigned model. Give it 2 years to work out the kinks. If I could have waited until 2007, It would have been harder to choose.

2) NAV. Subaru didn't come with it, and their radios are tied to the HVAC like ours. I'd rather have the stock look.

3) HID Lights. I love'em! The legacys come with focus projectors, which are nice, but these IMO, look nicer.

4) resale. I've seen used 2005 LGT Ltd's on the sellers block from 18.5k to 26k. I have yet to see a 2005 TSX for sale. and the cheapest 2004 auto/nav I've seen still goes for over 27k with nearly the same mileage.

5) Fuel Economy. LGT gets 18-22 MPG; TSX gets 22-27. We already have a gas guzzler (1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.9). Altho this was the least of my worries.

Personally, I think the Newly redesigned legacy is a sharp looking car, I won't deny I still want one. I drive my wife crazy every time i see one on the road. Over all, I feel i made the right choice at the time we bought. Again, if it was 2 years down the road, with the same 2 cars it might have been a different choice.

thanks for the opinions. i agree with that TSX wins for interior. but the loooks of both makes it so hard to decide. and also the engine. i really hope the TSX gets 220 hp next year.

lol that was the whole point. i had my eyes set on the TSX but then i realize the legacy is the same price range and faster. just needed some opinion to help me finalize my decision

Lol...and the TSX is any better? My rear doors especially sound like a sardinee can when I close them.

I'm falling into the 1% here and I'd might have actually gone with the Legacy. I got a chance to ride in one last week and man that car really blew me away. The radio options unfortunately in the automatic climate controls are not much easier to upgrade in the legacy versus the TSX and once you upgrade you loose the functionality of the normal deck
Here's a link to an installed aftermarket DVD/Navi setup.

Yeah gas mileage sucks, but it's no different for me on the TSX, I get 18 mpg, my work is only like 3-4 miles away one way, all stop and go traffic. What really got good gas mileage was my old '95 Accord, man I really miss that car. 20-22 mpg for the mentioned travel (depended on whether the A/C was on or not).

I do like the TSX's HID lights, but I'm sure there can be found a kit for the Legacy. Voice controls are a big plus in the TSX with Navi, Legacy looses this spot.

Wouldn't a V6 Altima be more comparable with the Subaru GT? Granted both the interior & exterior designs of the Altima are in absolute bad taste (IMO), you can't argue with the engine in such a compact package.

Still can't understand how Nissan can place a V6 in there while the TSX is only a I4. I would have easily passed on the Navi option and paid an extra 3~4 grand for a V6.

For the price, however, I couldn't (one year ago) and still don't see a car that I would rather buy.

i read on legacy forum and rumor is that the 06 legacy will have navi. doubt it would have voice controls like the tsx.

Your on crack if you think the TSX doors sound the same as the GT. Even Car and Driver noted how shitty the doors sound on the GT.

If I am not mistaken, Legacy GT costs even (slightly?) more $ than TSX.

It does have AWD and Turbo but IMO those are not as important (to me) as what the TSX has to offer that the Legacy GT doesn't.

I considered Legacy GT because of its availability as a wagon. I test drove Legacy GT and I liked it quite a lot. Features and comfort seemed similar to what Tsx offers. But 20 minutes later I test drove (for the first time) Tsx and then I had no more doubts. Legacy GT was fine and powerful but after driving Tsx, Legacy seemed bulky and somewhat dull. Tsx felt much more precise in reactions, showed a nerve, and seemed to be "just the right size". Both cars were AT. My better half did her test driving independently (in another city). Since the car was for her, I let her voice her opinion before giving mine. Her impression and comments were nearly identical.

I must add that when a week later I test drove first Tsx 6M and right after that a Rsx (base model), I had the same feeling, but in reverse. Subsequent driving of my wifes Tsx versus Rsx Type S confirmed my impression of relative bulkiness of Tsx versus precision and nerve of Rsx. So my personal rating is Rsx>Tsx>Legacy GT. (I am biased though, as an Integra owner for last 10 years).
I still would probably prefer 6M Tsx over Rsx had it been available here in the touring/wagon version.

ya i would get a rsx if i was a year or two younger. also i kinda dont like 2 door cars anymore. right now i have accord coupe and i think its such an inconvinent when i have to drive my bro and cousins home from school.

I owned an older Legacy before buying the TSX so I definately considered the new GT. The TSX wins as far as quality and refinement, but I enjoyed driving the Legacy more. In the end the deciding factor was the dealership. I've never dealt with a dealer as bad as Subaru! If they treated me as good as the Acura dealer, I would have bought the Legacy.

"Car and Driver" article

In that "Car and Driver" article, they mention the TSX's "goosey" throttle. Exactly—I often get caught in a sort of throttle-on, throttle-off bucking when I'm in first gear. I think that it's partly because I've never had a car with so much low-end torque (obviously, I've had a lot of torque-monsters in the past).
