Still trying to figure out how he got enough votes to avoid bannage?

I just sold a 1998 A4 (2.8 V6) to buy the TSX. Also owned a TT convertible for a couple of years, with a 225hp version of the same turbo 1.8.
The Audis with the V6 have always been nice, but as others here noted they're expensive and they drink an awful lot of premium fuel compared to our TSXs. Fit and finish is nice, but I think it's gotten a bit worse over the years. The A4 I just sold had a lot more problems than a previous Audi and reliability on the engine was never great. Lots of things needed to be replaced over the years that I thought really shouldn't have become problems as quickly as they did. Cam seals started leaking at 45K, requiring a lot of work (did the timing belts at the same time because they were beginning to show some wear). Multiple other minor problems. And the problems seemed to get worse once I was out of warranty. Having all the basic maintenance included was kind of nice, but really I don't think it was worth more than a few hundred bucks. Basically we're talking oil, fluids and wiper blades for the first 4 years. That's 6-8 Jiffy-Lube visits. Not a huge deal. I'd rather have a car that doesn't break down and take care of the minor items myself at my convenience.
The 1.8 turbo engine is nice. It can be souped up nicely. My TT did put out 225hp, but that requires more than just an ECU chip. Twin intercoolers, bigger turbo, different control equipment. Not cheap to take one of the 180hp jobs and make it a 225-250hp monster, but you can easily take the stock A4 engine up into the 200hp range. A friend has that arrangement on his.
In looking at cars this time around, there was just no way I could justify the price differential to get another Audi, especially since the Quattro feature is no longer very important to me.
