TSX is a very slow car

I think TSX is a very slow car. I have no confidence even against a Civic for the pick up. That's the only regret i got this car. I got this car without even test drive the car at the first place since I really like the interior and exterior and thought 200hp should be enough comparable to a Integra Type R which i thought should be as fast. But after i got the car, really found that the car was really slow. even slower then my modified honda civic years ago with only 127hp engine. Other then the performance. i think the car is great, inside and out is no comparable to any other cars in this market for the price and options.
So right now, i m thinking my next car has to at least 0-60m/h around 6.0 second range. by the way, my car is automatic. just wonder how much fast is a stick compare to the auto?
What's in my mind next car will be the follwing cars, if anyone can tell me which car out of these car should i get. By the way, these cars will be all in stick: Infinity G35 Coup, Z350, BMW 330CI (or 430CI i think the coup will become the 4 series, but i m looking forward to this coup and see how this car looks like after it comes out), Subaru Impreza STI.

Sorry you're so disappointed. But, why didn't you test drive and read up on it before buying? The MT version will be faster, by around .5-.8sec. in 0-60. If you bought this car to beat people 0-60 or the 1/4-mile you bought the wrong car. Any of the ones you list will be much faster off the line. If you have the $$ buy the BMW 330CI. It costs a lot more and repairs will cost also but it'll be faster.

You bought an automatic 4-cyl, 3200 lb sedan thinking you were getting some kind of dragster? I find with automatic cars, it doesn't matter how much power they have, they all drive the same. Mash the throttle, go forward, then yawn.

The 6MT TSX is a blast to drive, and any deficiencies in straight-line acceleration are more than compensated for by the slick shifter and excellent handling. I assume your Civic was an MT, and what you are realling missing is shifting, not power.

You bought a car without test driving it so you only have yourself to blame.

And if you bought any car in this segment expecting a quick car, you're smoking something mighty powerful :blaze:

I personally didn't buy the car with any expectations of racing it. I also can't say I understand why you bought a car without test driving it. This is a luxury sports sedan (more on the luxury side...IMO), not a STI, EVO, Integra or a M3. Yes it has 200 hp, but it has a fat body to go with it. I have the 6-speed version, and I feel it is much livelier than the auto. As far as the cars you listed...other than the G35 and 350Z, they are kind of in different categories, so it all depends where you are at on a personal level when you buy.

Acura TSX
Curb weight 3241-3318 lb
POWERTRAIN
2.4-liter DOHC 16-valve inline-4, 200 hp, 166 lb-ft; 6-sp man, 5-sp auto

BMW 330CI
Curb weight 3197-3285 lb
POWERTRAIN
2.5-liter DOHC 24-valve inline-6, 184 hp, 175 lb-ft; 5-sp man, 5-sp auto

Infiniti G35
Curb weight 3512 lb
POWERTRAIN
3.5-liter DOHC 24-valve V-6, 298 hp, 260 lb-ft; 6-sp man

Nissan 350Z
Curb weight 3188 lb
POWERTRAIN
3.5-liter DOHC 24-valve V-6, 287 hp, 274 lb-ft; 6-sp man

Subaru Impreza WRX STi
Curb weight 3298 lb
POWERTRAIN
turbocharged and intercooled 2.5-liter DOHC 16-valve flat-4, 300 hp, 300 lb-ft; 6-sp man

Money, easy come, easy go. I guess it justifies why you don't even spend the time to test drive the car before you made the purchase.

yeah, the civic i had years ago was MT. that's right, it was my mistake without even test drive the car and bought it. because i thought 200hp should be enough to feel the push. without thinking it would be this slow. especilly when on the highway passing. it have no confidence to pass at all. it feels like when i put the peddle all the way. it just slowly gradually accelerates, no sudden push at all! maybe there's something wrong with my car? i had a 91 honda accord way back 8 years ago, whenever i want to pass other cars, i just simply push the peddle hard then it will go. don't know why this TSX has no reponse at all..anyone has the same feeling?

You're experiencing something we call a torque curve. The older engines had very peaky torque curves. The TSX torque curve is broad and flat so you don't get as much of a peaky acceleration sensation.

Try sport shifting sparky. And maybe next time borrow the car for a day and go racing around town trying to beat everyone else on the street before buying your next car.

Hey, when I drive it off a cliff it accelerates at 9.8m/sec squared - just like all my other cars do.

Why would you not test drive is beyond my understanding.....

Maybe if you knew how to really drive the car, you wouldn't feel the way you do. Smashing on the gas every chance you get doesn't give you much, but the car is great. Try taking a few twisty roads. How can you not have confidence to pass people on the highway? I have a 5AT also and have no problems what so ever.....if need be, drop to a lower gear. Are you sure you drove a MT before?

....or make sure you're NOT in sportshift mode in 6th gear on the freeway. If you floor it in SS it WON'T downshift for you. Downshift yourself or leave it in D and you'll feel the pull you were expecting. Its not "fast" but it isn't a dog either.

The 5AT ain't that slow man...You must not be reving high enough. Try downshifting to 3rd to pass. I can definitely feel the pull in 3rd gear. I pass people on the freeway all day, so I don't know what you're talking about

Even when my TSX was stock, I still had no problems passing people at all. If it bothers you that much, then do some mods. Don't just sit around and complain.

After driving the 6-MT it is very difficult and dissappointing but i still love the car. if your unhappy...sell it and buy yourself something "fast." your fault for buying a car without test driving it or even reading specs.

Iceboy, how old are you? This is a big investment, and you didn't test drive?

As far as the TSX being slow, I have no trouble passing, especially after learning the car's sweet spots as far as power goes. And as TSX536 says, 3rd is great. I just had a drove to San Diego and played tag with my friends' 260hp G35 AWD 5AT, and had no trouble keeping up and passing. Would he beat me in a straight-line? Sure, but I seriously doubt he would tag the TSX as a slow car. It isn't a drag car, but it isn't slow.
