TSX or TL - help me decide!

I was about to buy a TSX with navigation, but now I just wonder if I should get the 2004 TL without navigation because I just love its even more luxurious interior!!! Both are within my price range. These are my thoughts:

TSX:

1. More economical - price, fuel efficiency
2. Can afford the navigation system here
3. Folding rear seat - a big plus for me since I only have one car and I hated the fact that my current car does not have this
4. Handling seems to be sportier than TL - does anyone else agree with this?

TL:

1. More luxurious!!! Love that sound system!!!
2. Probably don't want to spend money on a navigation system here - will push the price too high
3. V6 is smoother and more powerful but handling is less sporty
4. No folding rear seat!!!!!!!!!!!

If it were you, what would you do? And do you agree that the TL's handling is not as sporty as the TSX?

It really is a tough call. The TSX apparently handles better but how can you ignore that 270HP V6?

I personally also needed the folding seats (fishing rods/hockey sticks) and not having them is a bigger problem than most think.

You can't go wrong either way. But If I was buying today, I'd probly go TL because I love HP.

That's a tough one. The fact you can afford both further complicates the matter. The TL wasn't available yet when I purchased my TSX, and my lease was up, so the TSX it was. Having driven a new TL, I'll admit it's impressive. If I were buying today I'd probably opt for the TL. That thing sounds so incredible and I don't think the handling is drastically different. If you could close your eyes while driving both, the biggest difference is the power and the sound.

I'd chose the TL over the TSX as well. However, I would not opt for the TL without NAV over the TSX with NAV. NAV is just too nice a feature to have.

Have you noticed that the Acura "A" on the front of the car looks like the little communicator/shirt patch on the old Star Trek episodes with Capt Kirk?

I am also in exactly the same predicament...

I can afford both but if I opt for the TL, I don't think I can get the NAV.

Some questions on the TSX and TL NAV...

Is there a difference on the amount of voice commands?...

Does the TL nave do anything better than the TSX NAV?

This is a complete guess ... but i'd say the nav in the tsx and tl are essentially the same.

In that case I think you should get the TSX. Why strech youyrself out thin. Its not a smart thing to do with a car. Besides the moeny you save on the TSX will get you some mods.

But I thought the current mods for this car doesn't do much for it. I don't want a lound exhaust. I like this car because its quiet. I'm thinking I'll spend as much as I can to get the nicer lux car.

I think I may even be able to afford the TL with NAV, assuming I can get like 1500 off MSRP...I know that is impossible right now but it may be possible in June which is when I plan to buy.

I've had my 6 MT/non-nav TSX one month, and chose it over the TL although I could have purchased either car. I was only able to test drive the TL auto at the time. The other car in my final selection was a 325, which I really liked the handling and engine, but found lacking or dated in many other aspects.

Your comparisons are well stated, and each car had it's pluses. My opinions at the time are below, and line up with yours. I think it's a question of personal preference and tradeoffs. Crisp, responsive handling was more important to me than higher power. A TL was going to cost me $7k more out the door (which I could spend, but just wasn't worth it to me).

TSX:
Felt smaller, more nimble in handling
Cleaner, simpler interior design (esp. with non-Nav, which is what I got). Great dashboard, liked much better than TL.
Fold down rear seat also a significant plus for me
Noisier, both engine and overall cockpit noise level
Significantly less expensive
Audio sound just OK, definitely not "premium"

TL:
Smooth, higher power
Significantly quieter
Memory seats and settings
Better sound system
Handling felt softer, more luxury oriented, but actually less body roll than TSX
Extra money / complexity in electronics I didn't care about (bluetooth, DVD-Audio).
More comfortable rear seat (just enough larger).

After living with my TSX for a month, I have no regrets, it's a very nice car. I will upgrade the speakers, and may eventually do some noise dampening to quiet it further. I especially miss that aspect of the TL!

City fuel economy has been disappointing for me (20-22 with very unaggressive break-in driving, but mostly short trips) and I hope that improves. I don't think the TL will be worse.

Is the back seat an important factor for you at all? You should try both before you decide.

I would get the TL for the Engine and Brembo brakes.

I would get the TSX for the looks, great balance and size...

I think you're a winner on both sides...

For me, the TSX is a better choice. You can buy a lot of goodies for the different in price... For me the savings in price and GAS makes sense... You will still have a blast with your TSX even if the engine is less powerfull...
